The overhead appears on the wrong side of the panel - on the outside.   How do I bring it inside, please.  All other panels are OK.   I've compared this panel cfg with another but both overhead files look the same   :-?

Hi there gary.  The panel is Matthias Leberecht's mi1462 (panels P5 here) & I've popped it in my BAe1462QT_2K4.   Normally clicking the overhead shows it inside & in front of the panel...?    This one appears on the wrong side of the panel & I can only see it through the windscreen.  All my other overheads appear in the right place!!   I've looked at & compared other panel files but can't figure out why it doesn't appear as normal.   :-/

You should just need to use the "Bring window to front" command.  By default, it should be the "^" key (I switched this command to CTRL + F10 on my Japanese keyboard, but should all work the same, ne?).

I only popped in because I am using a default FS2004 aircraft (737-400) and am experiencing this same problem.  Sooo, I am not sure it is because of a add-on panel that you are unable to bring windowed views in front of the control panel.

While I think in some cases the command I mentioned above may be helpful, I had to come back and toss out most of what I said because I realized that I misunderstood the problem.  Sorry about that.

Hi - the weird thing is that this is the only panel where the overhead doesn't appear where it should when clicking the icon.   I#ll try the bring window to front dodge however!!

If the Overhead panel is a gauge and you move it out of one plane and into another you could have issues as the gauge is controlled by parameters used in the panel cfg file. If you look at the panel cfg file everything is placed by the numbers that appear with each line looking like B747-ALTIMETER, 12 ,23 ,45 or something like this the numbers are what controls where to put the gauge in the window of the panel. There is a size difference between the cockpits of the two air craft which is why you are having problems. Think of it this way try to put a 3 inch box inside of a 2 inch box. It will not fit this is what you are trying to do you need to move the gauge within the box or change the numbers. I use a payware program called FS PANEL STUDIO it takes out all of the guess work when adding gauges or panels  as you see exactly what it is going to look like without having to start up FS.  8-)

Gary I don't think you appreciate the problem here.......as I see it the overhead is a window ...like the main panel is a window and the GPS is a window. etc.........normally when opening these other windows they sit on top of (covering) the main window..like the  GPS does...in this case the overhead is covered by (underneath) the main panel in other word it appears to be outside the a/c....how to bring it on top of the main window is what is being asked...........dunno myself but it is interesting .....commoner :-/

I under stand completely I am probably not explaining myself clearly enough. Inside of the panel cfg file you will notice all of the windows are listed usually starting with the main window and then describing each window after that giving each window a unique number with the main window usually being number. If you press shift + 1 this will open and close the main window. The other windows are controlled the same way. Inside of each windows description there is a lay out as to where to put everything at and which bitmap to display it is those numbers that you have to watch for when moving a window from one plane to another.
Think of it this way you put a window at say 12,25,32 will say the first number is the lateral pos. the second is the vertical pos and the third is how big to make the window now you want to define another window inside of that window if you use say 14,28,34 this would not work as the lateral pos is bigger than the first therfore it will be out side you should use something like 10,15,25 am I making any sense here

I get what you mean Gary & I'll check the files.   I habe put a questing on the BAe panel project forum but have no replies as yet.  If I do I'll get back!

I've had a quick look at this panel & have the same problem in FS9. Not sure why yet. It might be the way the panel is set up.

However, I noticed this panel was intended for FS2002 so I tried it in FS2002 & it works as advertised. I believe there is an FS9 version of the BAe 146 panel by the same author posted on the HJG site. I recall checking it out when it was first released as some people reported problems with it. It takes a considerable time to load but the overhead window displays correctly.

..mm...well in this case Shift plus a number doesn't seem to work and even if it did is it not dodging the question of why it displays like like this? JMO.

I thought I understood what gary was saying but when I looked at the cfg file I realised I didn't.  F + 1 gets rid of the upper panel, 2 the main & 3 brings up the overhead.  F1 + 2 brings the others back in front of the overhead when I did this just now.

Anyhow, I'm including the following as I thought gary was saying if the size of the overhead was bigger then the panel's, it wouldn't show but it's  755mm or have I misunderstood what he was saying?

It's a long time since I had anything to do with panels & I have no idea why the overhead window of this one does not display correctly in FS9. I think the main reason is that this is a complex panel intended for FS2002 in which it works perfectly. The display priorities in FS9 are slightly different from FS2002 which I assume is the main reason the author released an improved version of his panel for FS9. Before you ask I can't see an obvious difference in the way it's set up.

..ok guys I'm off to sleep on this one ...here's a titbit for you to think about whilst I get some well deserved shuteye...

DELETE the line   ident=OVERHEAD_PANEL in window 02 and then open the overhead from the views/instrument panel menu...it now comes up on top......BUT it won't toggle with the icon on the main panel..........mmm......commoner

One easy way around this is to press shift + 1 to turn off the main panel then when you open the overhead panel it will not interfere with the main panel. I have a PSS airbus that does this automatically in order to bring up the over head I have to press and hold the ALT key and then the number 5 key on the number pad. this displays the overhead panel but turns off the main panel. 8-)
