The W view.

I have been asked if the instrumental panel, visible after pressing W, on the default 747 can be changed from the 2 large PFDs for the more usual set of 4 round instruments.      I said I thought it was possible but I didn't know how.

I was assuming it just means mainly changing the bitmap images & relevant codes, but my expertise in this particular matter stops here.
Help please!!    I'd be grateful if someone can tell me what's what.

Thanks,
TerryW
(I have just added some great side views to the default 747 panels  8-))

Edit aircraft\default\panel\panel.cfg to change it.

Make a backup of yours and see how you like this one instead:

Thanks Jim - I'm grateful to you.
Funny thing is - I looked at some panel cfgs but didn't see anything for minipanels, but yours work so I'll get my friend to choose.

Terry.

Hi...another way would be to simply change the mini panel section in the panel.cfg of one plane to another.........here is the 737 "W" view in the 747 for example.........

Image

Window 06 in this case was copied from the 737 panel.cfg and pasted into the 747 panel.cfg to replace the Window 06 there........The window number from the DONOR aircraft will in some cases have to be changed to the same as the the RECIPIENT aircraft...look at the windows list in the panel.cfg for the right number.

Here's what window06 looks like........

[Window06]
position=7
size_mm=551,151
child_3d=1
background_color=0,0,0
ident=MINIPANEL

gauge00=737-400!Airspeed,               0, 34
gauge01=737-400!ADI,                   88, 10
gauge02=737-400!HSI,                  243, 0
gauge03=737-400!Altimeter,            398, 34
gauge04=737-400!Vertical Speed,       486, 42

find one you like best and use the same principle to change......or make up one yourself using the gauges you like best........have fun but just make a back up of the panel.cfg in case you get lost.........commoner ;)

Hi Guys.
This has been a most interesting thread.
Following the above advice I have changed the "windowed" guages on my Beechcraft D18 to those from the default DC3, which I think are more in keeping.

Great stuff!
Perhaps it should be made a "sticky?"

Best wishes.

Zaphod

G'day commoner.  Until fellow-simmer John arrived yesterday whilst I was adding side views to the default 747 for him, I'd never given the mini-panel a second thought.   John didn't like the big square PFDs so I used the 01 set of the mini-panels Jim gave me, & edited out the gauges he didn't want, & lowered it down the screen a bit & it works a treat.    I've added the Cessna DME gauge to a couple of other panels, too, whilst I was at it  ::)

You've read my mind it would seem too as I thought last night I could make up an interesting mini-panel all of my own!
On the other hand I never use the W option but I might do so as an exercise & get John to choose some he'd like  8-)

Hi GypsyM.......yes all good interesting stuff don't you think?..........all a lot of these things need is to look at what you have and try to figure out how it works and how you can adapt it to your own liking.........."lot's of ways to skin a cat" as my old dad used to say............commoner ;)
