I just installed my FS 2004 on an HP Pavilion dv6000 and it started fine but for some reason all the aircrafts I flied were fuzzy. I messed with the display, but I don't think its a Graphics Card Problem because I have a powerful nVidia GeForce Card and this is a new laptop. My PC can handle the requirements:

AMD Athlon X2 2Ghz
2GIG RAM
nVidia GeForce 7150, 554MB Graphics Card
Windows Vista Home Premium

Here is what I mean:

Can anyone please help me!?!

The outside scenery looks fine but the plane's textures are all fuzzy

It's ages since I had that problem but if I remember correctly it was a glitch when FS9 was first released.
First stop should be the FS9.1 patch, that should cure it.
Also there is (or was) a download on the main SimV site which cures this too. I believe it's in FS2004 utilities or misc.

EDIT: My mistake, they're here: http://www.simviation.com/fs2004jets1.htm and more on page 2  ;)

Ditch the default!  ;) Have you tried any addons yet?

Try zooming in real close on the airplane. Does that make the textures sharper? Does it stay that way when you zoom back out?

If so then it's the problem that CharlottesDad mentioned. The problem is in the mips of the aircraft textures. Remove the mips and the textures will be clear again.

Mip Mapping settings in the hardware section on the display bit I think.

The distortion is the same when I zoom in, even with the patch I just installed.
I only tried one addon so far, the F-15, it looks somewhat sharper than the generic planes that comes with FS2004

I have the latest top of the line card, I HIGHLY doubt its a hardware problem.   :-[

First off, WELCOME to SimV!

If this is a fresh install of FS9, by default, you display settings most likely will not be set all that high. Start your sim, open your sim's display settings, and move the sliders for "MIP mapping quality"

You may have a conflict between FS9 trying to control MIPmapping and your video card trying to do the same... another possiblity.

Have you installed the latest set of drivers from the nVidia site?

I dont want too offend you but a GF7150 is not top off the line.

Neither do i think the card is the problem, ive ran FS04 for years on 2 Gforce FX5200 cards, so that shouldnt be a problem. I've had this problem only once with a single plane, the 737Experience from moach, although it was a costum installed textures.

You could check the Nvidia control panel and see what it says about mip maps, it might try and force a certain setting wich FS doesnt like. Upgrading the drivers is always a good idea, it could also solve your problem.

It doesn't mention anything on MIP Mapping, but I did try to raise the MIP mapping level iin FS to the MAX but nothing seems to work... :-/

You can use DXTBMP to get rid of the fuzzies

For some reason, the defualt set of planes that come with FS9 are fuzzy, all the addons look fine... :o

Thank you everyone!
