...I'm one of those 2D instrument panel enthusiasts....
I find that they incorporate ALL the instrumentation, controls, etc, necessary during the flight, which are instantly, and easily, within one fixed view, available for study and adjustment via the Mouse, etc....

Most of the time during my General Aviation Piston Prop flights require constant observation of the instrument panel in front of me, with various adjustments to the flight controls to maintain optimum flight conditions....
...and the 2D Panel caters admirably for this function without constant scrolling around, and loosing sight of the important information in front of me, outside of my windscreen...

Note: In a "real aircraft", the details surrounding the Pilot in the cockpit can be seen with a quick glance of the eyes in all directions....
...but this is not possible in a Flight Simulator, so the fixed 2D view comes in handy...
