Um..Having a problem!!

Hi, I'm trying to put some VFR scenery onto my flight sim but following the installation instructions doesn't seem to work.

It's given me 2 options, the first to put the files in my addon scenery folder and add it in settings as you would normal addon scenery, but when I go to add it in the program it can't see the files and just takes me into an empty folder.

The other way was to put the files where I have my scenery meshes, only thing is, I can't find this folder. Does anyone know how to overcome either of these problems?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks.
Dan.

First, remove the new scenery from the sim's add-on scenery folders.

Then try this.......Make a folder on your desktop, name it what ever you like, let's say VFR.

Open that folder, and make two more, naming one Texture and the other Scenery (use these names ONLY) .

Next, open the downloaded scenery, and put the files from the download into these folders, just as you would have done in the add-on scenery folder.

It is only a .bgl file, is that a problem?

Shouldn't be, that only means that the new scenery uses default textures. That being the case, you don't really need the folder you made called Texture, so it's ok to delete it. I had you make it because a lot of add-on sceneries come textures too.

Out of curiosity, what package are you trying to install?

I should also point out, that when you are activating your new scenery, you should only need to navigate to the "outer" folder called VFR (or whatever you named it). I.E. C:\program files\microsoft games\add on scenery\VFR

It's a free vfr mesh package in three parts uk east, uk southwest and uk north.

I've tried to do what you've said and it accepted it and activated it, although it still doesn't seem to show when I actually fly.

Are there any other freeware vfr meshes around or should I buy the commercial ones?

Depends on who you ask. I've not found a need to pay for any as there are plenty of freeware alternatives. (ok, maybe not PLENTY, but a fair few)

Oh right, in that case, perhaps it has worked...... which leads me to my next question.....

.... Is there any free photoreal scenery that does show satellite images of the various towns in the uk? or is this asking a bit much?

Whilst I'm not new to flight sim, I am new to using these free upgrades.

Now that I'm not sure about, but if you were to ask the same question in the "other add-ons wanted" section, I sure someone could help you more than I.

If you're not totally partial to flying UK scenery, have a look at the BlueSky Scenery sets by Gottfried Razek. Very impressive for freeware.

( I think they are available here a SimV too)
