Airplane turning?

Hi, Have callibrate joystick. What causes an aircraft to drift to the left? I have made couple
of setting changes in aircraft realism, but piper commance still pulls to the left. What can I do to fix this? Thank you, jakob

The comanche behaves like it's supposed to.
Every prop will show these sympthoms (yes even turboprops)
You are experiencing prop wash which pushes your aircraft to the left during the takeoff.
This effect decreases as you pick up speed, use rudder to correct.

Then we have the torque effect, which expresses itself as a left turning tendency around the roll axis.
So you have to apply some aileron to counter this effect.

And lastly we have the p-factor caused by assymetric prop loading which causes yaw to the left at high angles of attack (ie takeoffs).

Flying a piper correctly (or any other prop) is trickier than most people think!

I could not have said it any better. Nexus hit it dead on the head. I suggest you learn to use trim while in flight. In the real world what you would do is once straight and level see which way the plane has a tendency to drift and then use the correct trim to correct. With your hands off the wheel or stick the plane should hold course and altitude with minimum drift. Of course you have to take the wind into consideration as well. 8-)

By "turn" do you mean it banks (rolls) or does the nose drift to the left?

Bear in mind that modern aircraft (like the Comanche) are designed with some tricks to compensate for P-factor, torque, etc... for one thing, the engine is mounted at a slight angle (to the right). The model should reflect that.
The result is that a little rudder is needed on takeoff and climbout, or whenever the power setting is high compared to the airspeed, but it shouldn't drift or roll while cruising... unless you've been messing with the rudder or aileron trim.

Hi everybody reading, and to those not reading this,

I'm new to this forum but not to flight sims in general.

I have a very odd problem with rudder trim on my fs9 installation and it effects all fixed wing, jet and prop and only on the ground.
have gone through control panel re-calibration and deleting the fs9.cfg file as well with same result.

OK, quite used to single props going to one side but jets, and even jets where engines are internal to the fuselage .
Here are the odd points: at higher grounds speeds nose wheel steering is not used and shouldn't be, they all go perfectly straight once the rudder surfaces are active.

But, at the initial start of movement they all veer off to the right unless and this is the very odd part: I am using outside views whether it be tower or the spot views, if either of those are used it does not do it, it's perfectly straight right from the beginning till lift off.
Now the other odd thing is that after landing it doesn't do it at all.
I'm not aware - read not noticed :) of any nose wheel trim key- rudder trim key has no effect on the ground at the slower speeds

Rudder co-ordination is set for manual.

I do have a Logitech utility for tweaking the direct input values but if I used it, that is likely to then give me left yaw in flight, anybody any ideas, I know it's a strange one.

Joystick is USB Logitech Wingman Force 3D aircraft fine in FS2002, cfs2 & cfs3

FS9.cfg in C:\Documents and Settings\?????????\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9    ????????? being me.

What are the weather settings for your default flight? Is the wind blowing? ::)

for my problem it's without any wind, so wind indication is deg?/0.

doesn't matter if small like the cessna 172's ortucano or upto the Abacus A380's they all do it, and if it's tail dragger it's more real because then having to use side front views to check position relative to the edge of the runway until elevator is working and I can then lift the tail and see forwards which by then I'm also on the rudder.

I'll have to play around and try and find the cause.
Also found bugs in the DSB's Typhoon, maybe a patch somewhere I missed.
