Strange flight dynamics.

'Evening everyone. I just started playing around with FS2004 again after a year or so of not playing. Mostly to get into playing around with aerobatic jets, especially in the supermaneuverability field.

So, I downloaded Eduardo Fadul's amazing MiG 29 and the associated OVT-esque AIR file, got it all modified and working. The maneuverability is stunning. However, I found that during some (Okay. A lot) of high-alpha and low-speed maneuvering, the aircraft seems to love to go "weightless" and just sort of wobble around the sky uncontrollable. I've noticed this with a lot of other highly maneuverable aircraft in the game.

I'm not sure if it's in the flight dynamics of the aircraft or the game engine itself. Is there a patch or a mod or anything of the sort to bring the laws of physics back into play here? :)

Is it stalling?

What are your realism settings?

that effect is known as the "cobra dance". IRL it could be executed by overcorrection with a thrust vectored plane. most planes that would have thrust vectoring IRL do this in the sim. It happens as the engines take over in holding the plane in its current altitude and attitude and the wings stop being effective. this confuses the sim and hence the "cobra dance".

FS has never been good at high alpha and post-stall modeling.  It's rather unfortunate, but it's better than nothing. ;)

it depends on the aircraft...Tim "Piglet" Conrad's ov-10 stalls easily but never really loses altitude if you are at full throttle...
