Strange keyboard problem..

Postby Mees » Thu Nov 22, 2007 6:35 am

Hey all

All of a sudden my keyboard started to act up, i.e F4 gives Top-Down view, and F1 till f12 dont function properly...

It's a different one than where ; becomes zoom in, and = becomes spoiler btw.

Mees,

Check you assignments page and make sure nothing has somehow gotten changed.  If not that....... sounds like the last Diet Coke you spilled on the keyboard has finally taken it's revenge.   ;)

best,

Either that, or the keyboard operator had one too many root beers!

Sounds like you FS9.cfg file got corrupted. Cut/paste it somewhere safe and then run FS2004 to build a new one or if you have a good one copied just drop it in and delete the corrupted one. When you are exiting the sim is when FS2004 is writing a new FS9.cfg. Sometimes FS2004 will crash on exiting the sim and leave you with a corrupted FS9.cfg. What I do is make a copy of the .cfg file when everything is working OK. I name it FS9.cfg_Bak. If something happens to the .cfg file I can just rename the backup and be right where I was before the file got corrupted. Saves a lot of time resetting any keyboard assignments or .cfg changes I've made.

Thanks mate! That's useful, I thought about it but I wanted to make it sure 'cos it's helluva job rebuilding the cfg...

You could always delete the complete [KEYBOARD_MAIN] & [KEYBOARD_SLEW] sections from fs9.cfg. The default commands will be written next time you run FS9. (No need to tell you to back up fs9.cfg first)

Alternatively go to FS9/Settings/Assignments & click the Reset Defaults button.

Just curious, is your key board a wireless? I had a problem with mine and had to uninstall the keyboard and reinstall it and then things started working again.
