I wonder if anyone can give me some advice on a problem with my throttle? I have been trying to fly early model 707/KC135s using my CH yoke. On going to full throttle I only get an N1 reading of just over 91% and water injection does not start, I think injection only comes on at full throttle. I have checked throttle calibration in FS2004 and it appears OK. All items downloaded appear to be up to date and compatible so I don't know how to get full power delivered. Any suggestions gratefully acceepted.

If I am not mistaken there are entries in the aircraft cfg file that deals with this matter as well as entries in the .AIR file look closely in the engine section try compareing it to a DC10 or a MD11 and see if you can spot the differances. A kc135 is just a converted DC10 and the MD11 is very simalar with the biggest difference being the placement of the third engine. 8-)

What model of KC-135 are you using?  Water injection may not be modelled.

Is it an HJG 707? I just tried my 120B (don't have the water-injection panel installed) and even with the slow spool-up, it got to 100% N1.

Maybe you want to try re-calibrating your throttle axis on whatever device it is that you're using for it. Also, you could check whether it's hardware-related by disabling the joystick in FS and using F4 to see whether it goes to max thrust or not. If it does, it's the hardware, if not then it might be the dynamics, although as I said, with my default HJG dynamics on the 120B, I have no problem.

(Assuming here that you haven't modified the panel/dynamics to add an autothrottle...)

I have tracked this to a hardware problem. I have been trying the HJG KC135A and on the throttle on my yoke got only 91% N1, pressing F4 gets it up to 100% and water injection then comes in. I also have a Saitek joystick which gives 100% N1. The yoke throttle has now stopped working completely! It is still enabled and assigned so seems a definite mechanical problem in the yoke.

which panel has the water injection? I just saw this post and am now wondering...

I have a saitek x52 that has a similiar problem but to a lesser degree...the throttle only goes to 98% with the throttle control, i have to hit f4 to get 100% throttle...

...in the 1950's it was available for Motorcycles.
Small quantities of water was injected into the carburettor air intake, together with the normal Fuel/Air mixture.

This was converted into steam within the hot combustion chamber, therefore increasing the combustion pressure, resulting in more power.... [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]....

...the disadvantage was that the water rusted the engine internals... ...!

I think the idea was abandoned for Motorcycles...(in the late 1950's).......!

P.S. Note how much better your Bike runs when there is a lot or moisture in the air, eg; RAIN!!!

I think that explains it. I tried the KC-135 'as it comes'. The panel is aliased to the default b747-400 & I had the same problem with my Sidewinder Pro. The water injection must be a special gauge in that panel. All works fine with it installed.
