This gotta be frustrating...

Postby Boeing227 » Mon Oct 29, 2007 6:45 pm

Earlier my FS2004 used to work fine. I had this backup with some old add-ons and stuff of mine that I copied over to FS9. When I press the FS9 start button it will startup for 1 second then shut off. It won't load. Whats wrong? Is it the old add-ons and gauges and stuff?

That's the most likely reason. The problem is that if you added them all at once it will be difficult to find the culprit.

One of the most common causes of this problem is a 3rd party module named GaugeSound.dll. This should be in the FS9 root directory & not in the Modules folder.

About all you can do here is to back track and try adding the add-ons one at a time  8-)

Well that would take forever to find all the new gauges I added and then put them into a folder on my hard drive. I have my aircraft cut and pasted to a folder. SO all the recent aircraft I added are gone. I start it and it will load for a few seconds and then shut down. I might have that gaugesound.dll thingy in my modules folder I go check.

EDIT: Nope it's not there. I guess I will have to readd my gauges and stuff.

If it CTDs immediately after the splash screen appears it's often in the FS9.cfg. Try moving your FS9.cfg to the desktop or somewhere safe and restarting FS2004. It will build a new FS9.cfg. You will loose all your settings and key assignments but that often fixes these kinds of crashes. It won't hurt to try. If that isn't the problem you can always move the old FS9.cfg back where it was and all your settings will be restored.
