I "fly" out of RAF Leuchars in Scotland and would love to have  some traffic in the system. I have some details in Notepad that I think came with the download scenery but how do I get a BGL file etc to insert the traffic? I have lots of AI just awaiting to fly!

Also, I use the excellent IRIS freeware Tornado F3 but find that it shuts down my FS9 after about 3-4 minutes and then I have to restart it again. Doesn`t happen with any other A/C- anyone else having this problem and any ideas for a fix?

Last but not least - when will somebody do some decent scenery for Scotland! VFR for everywhere else it seems!

Cheers

Colin

Well for starters BGL files are SCENERY files and one would not usually associate them as being AI or traffic files but they could contain static aircraft and other vehicles. For true traffic files you should check out www.projectai.com
As for scenery I would suggest you look at www.avsim.com You will have to register to download anything but it is free. I can not say for sure if they have any scenery that matches your needs but they have a ton of scenery and each day there are updates. There is a powerful search engine where you can use * as wild cards to look for files (EXAMPLE to look for Scotland simply use Scotland*) and  search the AVSIM FS2004 files if you search the entire library it will show every thing they have, but this will include F2002 FSX and FS combat sims.
AS for your aircraft problem are you sure this is not some kind of demo? 8-)

The FS file(s) that generate ai flights are indeed .BGL (...Scenery\World\scenery\traffic030528.BGL is the default ai traffic file.)

Colin,

To make your 'details' into an ai traffic file requires Traffic Tools v2.02. How you do it depends on how the details are packaged:

If it is in 3 .txt files named 'airports*', 'aircraft*' and 'flightplans*' then they are 'source files' for TrafficTools and can be compiled into a 'traffic*.bgl' file by  TrafficTools.

If it is simply flight information then you can create the 'source files' yourself.

Traffic Tools comes with an excellant User Manual to guide you.

Dave

Guys, thanks for the replies.

I will try out the traffic tools as advised. As for the aircraft problems, it is not a demo, it is the freeware programme readily available from IRIS or other sites.

...make yourself familiar with the way TTools operates and you will find it a simple matter to have any A/C flying in an out of RAF Leuchars or any other airport at the times you want. It is not a steep learnng curve you just need to read and digest something like this..........

http://www.simviation.com/fs2004utilities1.htm

go there, get TTools and AFCAD.

http://www.simviation.com/fs2004utilities3.htm

Go there and get Simple AI

With those programs you can add traffic to ANY airport in FS9, yes all 23,791 of 'em

...mm...TTools, yes you must have that.....Simple AI is just that..Simple.........you still have to add your aircraft and airports to the appropriate text files unless they are defaults so IMHO there is no substitute for knowing the basic principles and doing the job yourself..........commoner ;)
