Well, my water in FS9 seems to look good up to a point - but after a certain distance, it goes blurry and a "light blue" colour, distinctly different from my standard water. Here are some shots to show what I mean:
Also, this happens on land sometimes, terrible blurries basically - with a very small detail radius (e.g. sharp beneath me, blurry all around).
















This looked strange - is this normal?




If it helps, in FSX, my water looks fine - all the same colour and contrast as far as the eye can see

It would appear to be texture problem. I used to get a similar effect often, but I eventually fixed it by messing around with the texture settings.

I don't think that that is the weather. That looks more like the water that you are using.

I've never bothered with that...
