Concorde GPS

Postby captaincarl » Fri Oct 19, 2007 4:55 pm

Hi all,

I got the Aerospace Concorde today and was lost completely when i took a look at the GPS it offers. Does anyone know how i can put the GPS in the Concorde from the Boeing 737-400?

Thanks,

Carl

Hi Captain.
If you look at the FAQ's at the top of this forum there's a thread which will enable you to add a default GPS to the Concorde. I think it's number 15.

Good luck.

Hi Carl.

Try this - I've taken it direct from my Projet Mach 2 Concorde with the Chris Alevritis panel, which works fine. It's only a modification of the panel.cfg - just add or change what I indicate.

- make a backup before you start
- don't remove any lines, just REM them out using a semicolon ; at the start of the line.

Add to:
[Window Titles]
WindowXX=GPS   //next sequential number

[Window00]
gaugeXX=SimIcons!GPS Icon, xx, yy  //next sequential number, plus panel location for the icon

[WindowXX]   //must be the same number as that specified in the Window Titles section
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=456,378
window_size_ratio=1.00
position=8
visible=0
ident=GPS_PANEL
window_size= 0.430, 0.450
window_pos= 0.570, 0.490

gauge00=fs9gps!gps_500,  0,0,455,376

This will give you the FS9 GPS in the lower right hand corner of the 2D cockpit. If the GPS icon is already being used for your Concorde, then just rem out the contents of the appropriate [window] section using the semicolon and copy the text in the [WindowXX] section above.

These are all default FS9 files, so there are no additional files to put in. You can do this in any cockpit.

Good luck!

;)

Hi Microlight,

I did what you said as best i could and this is what i ended with

[fltsim]
alias=FSFSConv\PANEL.JET.CONC

[Window Titles]
Window00=GPS

[Window00]
gauge00=SimIcons!GPS Icon, 342, 289

[Window00]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=456,378
window_size_ratio=1.00
position=8
visible=0
ident=GPS_PANEL
window_size= 0.430, 0.450
window_pos= 0.570, 0.490

gauge00=fs9gps!gps_500,  0,0,455,376

But it didnt show up in 2d panel

Any thoughts?

Thanks for your help,

Carl

...mm...not having much luck but seems like you might be adding your stuff in the wrong place.......open your fsfsconv folder which lives in the aircraft folder along with all your other aircraft. in there look for a folder called PANEL.JET.CONC ..in there is the panel.cfg you should be changing..or so it appears from your last posting..........

open it and to the list of [WindowTitles] add another .. Windowxx=GPS   ..replace the xx with the next consecutive number...

Then scroll down to the end of all the windows which are numbered and to the end add add a new one with the same number you have just added to the to the window list.....this is the text to add.....again change the xx.

[Windowxx]
size_mm=456,378
window_size=0.5
position=8
BACKGROUND_COLOR=0,0,0
VISIBLE=0
ident=GPS_PANEL

gauge00=fs9gps!gps_500,            0,0

This will have added the GPS to the panel......it won't be visible  but before adding anymore stuff start the sim and get the concorde 2d panel up.....click Alt to get the menu bar and click View/Instrument panel...you should then see GPS which if you select will bring up the G500 Gps panel.

Good luck....IF that works then we can get some icons and switches later.......best of luck and back up copies first please.............commoner ;)

..mm...well I just added exactly the text I gave you to 4 different a/c and it all went perfectly.....did you copy and paste the text or just type what you saw....what I mean is did you make a typo. error?

If you did it right then I have nothing to add :-[

I have no way of downloading your plane as it is not free ware so without being able to see the whole of that panel cfg I am stymied.....sorry but not sure which way to go from here..........

commoner........ :-[ :-/

If you get the black box, you're almost there - it just means that FS9 isn't recognising the gauge you're calling for. Make sure you haven't got a typo - that the panel.cfg entry reads 'fs9gps!gps_500,'.

Hi commoner and microlight,

Rightey O i'll have a look at it later on although it shouldnt be a typing mistake as it was a copy and paste.

The plane isn't a payware so if you want me to give you the website I can. Just need to go to the VA and make an accunt and you can then download the plane.

Were nearly there!

Thanks for both your help,

Carl

I don't wish to interfere but just a thought. Presumably this panel already has a GPS. captaincarl wrote:

Would it not be easier to replace that with the default gauge?

...Interfere to your heart's content Hagar :D...I think the general idea IS to replace it with the default GPS but it is trying to establish just what he has already that is confusing me at least.......maybe we can get the original download from Carl which should make it just the simple job that is should be.........commoner ;)
