Active Runways

Dear fellow simmer,

Questions:
How does FS pick the active runway? Is it a random procedure or weather related?  ::)
Let's say that WIII have 7L, 7R, 25L and 25R respectively. On real evening flight, 25L and 25R are used, but in my PC, FS picks 7L and 7R all day long.
Is there any procedure (w/ AFCAD or other add on, perhaps) to make it happen?

I think FS does base the runway's on wind...Most of the time, in the case of parallel runways, ATC will send you to the runway nearest to your parking spot...

Using AFCAD, you can close some runways for take-off and close some for landings only...I find it pointless to do that...LOL...

Nah, it is not pointless...just put AFCAD Editing as a part of Flight Planning...LOL  :D

While FS is not the best for giving the correct runway to use it should be the runway based on the wind. You should NEVER land with any tail wind at all and even a cross wind one has to be careful as with all cross winds you have to make sure of the tail wind factor as you can have one if the angle is to extreme. And as for parallel runways airports like Atlanta will designate some runways as takeoff only and others as landing only and they will give you the one based upon from which direction you are coming from and taking the type of plane you are flying. In the real world it is up to the pilot to check his/her charts to make sure the runway they are given is long enough for the size and weight of the aircraft they are flying. One can never be to carefull make sure you are landing at the correct runway if they say runway 12R do not land on runway 12L or 12C as you would have some explaning to do once you landed provided you are not hit by some other aircraft. 8-)

As was said earlier the only way, is to edit your afcad file.
With parallel rwys designate one for T O and the other for landing. If as at Heathrow at 15:00 hrs they rotate the rwys as part of the noise abatement then at the designated time re designate your rwys on afcad and FS9 ATC will give you the correct rwy according to the weather conditions you have set up.
