OK Folks, First Pack is Done...

Postby Groundbound1 » Wed Aug 29, 2007 1:05 pm

A few of you seemed to get a bit of a kick out of an effect I've had in the works, as seen here:

http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2 ... 1182376411

So, I just thought I'd take a moment to let you all know it was finished and available here:

http://www.simviation.com/fs2004misc25.htm

Below are a few shots to show the kind of visuals you can expect.( As of yet, the effect is only for a few default aircraft, but more will be added soon)

Maybe it's not the most realistic effect, but IMHO, I think it's looks pretty cool. Enjoy!

Thanks again Harold!

It doesn't come on all at once. Turn the smoke on, then give it a second. The effect has a few different parts, and each part is timed to start individually. When you first activate the smoke, you should see a small fireball indicating that the effect is active. A few seconds later the smoke will start, then the fire. I meant to put this info in the readme, but I forgot it.(sorry) If you still don't see it after giving it a moment or two, check to make sure you still have the effects textures called "FX_2" and "FX_1" installed. These were installed with FS9 and are required for the effect to display. If you are still having trouble after this, notify me via email, and I'll work with you till we get it right! :)

Did you put the [Smokesystem] entry in the 'aircraft.cfg' as explained in the readme?

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

I downloaded your new effect and did I think all that was asked of me but no fire not even smoke. The light there are no numbers in most of the new light pieces that we are to ad to the aircraft.cfg this is what it looks like right now
[lights]
light.0 = 3, x.xx, x.xx, x.xx, fx_xx
light.1 = 3, x.xx, x.xx, x.xx, fx_xx
light.2 = 3, x.xx, x.xx, x.xx, fx_xx
light.3 = 4, x.xx, x.xx, x.xx, fx_xx

what needs to be added and where for sure for this to work. I would really love to have this effect. I did change the first number right after the word light so that it followed the rest of the light numbers in the aircraft.cfg. Please help if you can.

It works great, with your help I found out what I did. I put the fx into the dc-3 folder not the effects folder. But I changed it and now it works very well, very nice effect can't wait to see what more cool effects you come up with. Keep up the good work. Hey can any one tell me how I can post a picture on here, I took a snap shot of the DC-3 with the effect and don't know how to post it. I am kinda new to the forums, I also would like to put my own picture into my profile space and have not got that mastered.

Groundbound, I normally stay well away from anything that simulates flames on my aircraft but I was impressed with the pictures of the DC3 so I thought I'd give it a try.
I have to say I am not dissapointed! Cut the power to number one, Shut off the fuel, feather the prop and land on one engine. Not easy but very interesting.
Nice job!

Best.
