help needed: problem after new hard disc!!

Postby lesdawson » Sat Oct 06, 2007 2:49 pm

hi all,

I have been running fs2004 with no problems, but had a hard disc crash
and had to install a new hard disc, starting the computer from scratch

on re-installing fs2004 i now cannot start fs2004,  it displays the message
"the version of fs2004 detected is not compatible with this version of FSUIPC! It is build 9.01.40901..... you need the correct version of fs2004. check the help-about: the build should be 9.00.30612.  FSUIPC will terminate when you select ok"

FS then terminates and wont run.
I am used the same original flight sim package and discs to install it.

any help mech appreciated!!!  i am missing the flying!

Hey Les, welcome to SimV! It sounds like you forgot to install the 9.1 patch this time. (Or you installed the wrong version of the FSUIPC module)

9.1 Patch

You shouldnt need to reinstall FS

FSUIPC is a module which controls various add ons and weather settings.....there are two versions, a free and a pay....free provides the bare minimum, whereas pay gives you lots of nice little extras.....but that doesnt matter in your problem...

Install the patch and tell us what happens :)

The 9.1 patch is here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

FSUIPC is an add-on module that is needed by certain gauges and programs in order to interact with the sim. (It must have been in the backup files you put back after you re-intalled.) You shouldn't need to re-install FS2004.

There are three (or four in this case) files in the modules folder related to FSUIPC: [glow=yellow,2,300]Fsuipc.dll, Fsuipc.ini, Fsuipc.key, and Fsuipc.log[/glow]. Try removing them from your FS2004 modules folder (don't delete them yet, just pull them out of the sims' folders), and see if that helps. (You may need to select "View all files" in your folder options to see the .dll file) Also, I've heard of people having problems from multiple instances of the Fsuipc.dll on the same hard drive, even if only one is in the sim's modules folder. It couldn't hurt to do a search to make sure you only have one.

Sounds like you have a relatively old version of FSUIPC...Go here:

http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html

Download the latest version AFTER you completely remove the older versions file and get back to us ;)
