Bugger, this will royally screw my NO-CD patch

. My CDs get so scratched up from normal use and half of the time I boot my PC it does not recognize it when I put a CD in my drive (that really bugs me!!!). I suppose I can wait untill a FS9.1 No CD patch comes out...

I have no cd installed and just finished the installation of the patch 9.1 - NO PROBLEM AT ALL.
My "no cd" is operatin normally - all my add-ons, all my aircrafts, etc etc are 100% workin.
But there is a lil problem: FSUIPC is NOT WORKIN!
I have the registered version 3.15 (or somethin like that) and fs keeps saying me that is incompatible and it'll turned off - then I got a Crash To Desktop, so I've decided to REMOVE all fsuipc.* files and now it's running quite perfectly, as a matter of fact i think I sense a frame increment - dunno if I'm only impressed but I think some sceneries are running better - got flyin a lil more in order to prove this.
that's it - hope I've helped!

Oh great. I hope Pete Dowson is real quick to make a compatible fsuipc. I have a few gauges that depend on it. But, no doubt it will take him a week or three to unravel everythung and write an fsuipc update.

I think I'll "sit tight" until the dust settles over this one.

you can get a kit that will fixe the surface of your CD some kind of wax i think. then copy it on to a new cd and ask MS to send you a new CD1.

Or clean the sand out of you disc tray

But I'm 100% with JBaymore on this one, I too have invested too much time, money and energy in add-ons and tweaking just to have it all wiped out by a patch.
Especially when the patch addresses issues that should have been taken care of before the inital release!

Im gonna wait until BOTA is over. It comes with a free version of FSUIPC and I dont want any probs to occur whilst I am flying the BOTA race.
And in 11weeks time you guys woulda sorted all the little niggles so I can just ask you ;D

try to find out if copying the registration keys works.... most likely these are limited licenses, but worth trying

I downloaded and installed the patch last night, I did notice the "memory leak" fix, it bumped my average framerate up by 1.2FPS. It did not alter any settings or add-ons for me, I don't have FSUIPC though because it is payware (I don't get why it is payware for FS9 but it was not for FS8???) so I know nothing about how the patch affects it.

Installed original FS9.exe.
Installed patch.
Tried to start FS9 twice.
No success.
Uninstalled patch.
Installed No-CD.exe
Happily flying.
The patch will stay on my HDD just until the next installation of FS9. If it doesn't work after that, I don't see any point in wasting 27Mb of disk space for it.

hey Heretic
I really don't understand this! I have the same "no-cd" patch installed into my fs9 - got it from avsim (don't remember exactly) and just for precaution made a restauration point and a back-up but made no change at all (fs9.exe is th no-cd patch) - I didn't have a simgle problem! Simply the install overwrote the old files, made the upgrade and everything is like before - I don't have to insert my CD there and I also didn't reinstall the no-cd....why is it workin for ones and not for others?!?! M$ bugs strike again????
anyways, I have to reinstall FSUIPC 3.40

(I really hate payware...)

I installed the patch last night. If you are having problems loading, it is most likely due to FSUIPC, delete those files and try it, then if it works go get the newer version. I have the no-cd patch and everything works fine. Unless MS wrote something into the fix, how could they prevent some of the changes from showing up if you use the no-cd patch. The new patch modifies settings on the computer, not the disks. Think MS is just BSing everyone. No improvement in FPS for me, have to fly more to see if CTD have been reduced or not. For JBaymore and friends, this is definitely not the answer for the FPS, if you are happy with your set up, dont waste your time. I can see no discernable difference in FPS, especially at busy airports where you need it most. Todd
