where do i put the panels i download? in the panel folder under flight simulator or in the actual panel folder in the airplane folder? because i can get them to work

At last I can help. Go into your fs aircrfat folder and the aircrfat you wish to add the panel too delte the original panel and make sure you have everything in teh correct folder such as gauges go in the gauges folder the main gauges folder not one within the aircraft. Most of the time this works for me good luck. Hope it helps.

Most should have a 'readme' file with them. READ IT!  :D

Put the panel file in the same folder as the aircraft you want to use it with.

ok, i deleted the orignal panels and i put the new one in and when i went to look at it, i had no panel, i did that for two airplanes  :-?

All panels consist of a Panel.cfg file plus one or more BMP images. These must (usually) be in a folder named Panel to be recognised. Look in the Panel folder of any flyable default aircraft for reference.

The easiest way to install a new panel is to rename the original Panel folder to back it up, something like Panel.0. Then paste the new one in to replace it.

As funny as the flowchart is, that was completely unrelated to this man's problem and quite immature of you to do.  

I would really like to help, but I'm not quite sure what you did.  If the panel is infact in a folder called Panel with a few .bmp and a panel.cfg, then check and make sure that in the Aircraft.cfg underneath [fltsim.X] it says panel=0

...oh dear!...some good advice there and some really bad......the worst was to "delete the original panel"

Rename files or folders as Hagar says....move them somewhere else temporarily even but never DELETE stuff out of hand like that....it is potentially disastrous.

Best advice maybe was to READ THE README file (if one is present)it will work 99.999999 %of the time.......

 Good luck........and if you really get stuck tell us EXACTLY which panel you downloaded and into which a/c you are attempting to put it....... that way you will get a real result....commoner

Sorry Jake. I must correct you on that before everyone gets more confused than they already are.

panel= is the normal Aircraft.cfg entry. This points to the usual folder named Panel
panel=0 would look for a folder named Panel.0
This is the standard FS folder naming convention. It's easy enough once you understand the principle.

Whenever in doubt use the default files/folders for reference.
