Hi Guys and Gals.
Has anyone tried the BBMF texture (pa474dg.zip) for Dave Garwoods Lancaster B111?
It's available on page 80 of the FS2004 vintage aircraft here at SimViation.
I have tried several times to get the texture to display correctly but the fuselage textures refuse to display. I have added the necessary lines to the aircraft cfg but no joy. I also have the update for the original Lanc installed.
Any help appreciated.
Zaphod

Ok..
Turns out I was trying to apply the texture to the wrong Lancaster

I already had Dave Garwoods "Dambuster" version and was trying to change that. Now I have downloaded the correct Lanc, the BBMF (Battle of Britain Memorial Flight) texture works fine. Actually, better than fine.
Now all I need is a better panel.
Best..
Zaphod.

Zaphod hi. The panel I have is by J L Stubbs. You could try these updates to the BBMF Avro Lancs

http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=39227FS2004: ACOF Update For The Avro Lancaster B.III
================================================
Version 1.1
David Garwood's excellent GMax "Avro Lancaster B.III" for FS2002 displays properly in "FS2004: A Century of Flight" but the engines cut out and it has other problems in FS2004 with the original FS2002 flight model. This package includes a new flight model and supporting files to make the Lancaster B.III work properly in FS2004. Note: V1.1 supercedes the original package dated August 5, 2003.
------------
Installation
------------
1) Download the FS2002 version of the Lancaster B.III aircraft which is available from Avsim (
http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=26163) and Simviation (
http://63.217.28.218/files/1vintage/lancbiii.zip) and install it as you normally would except put it in Flight Simulator 9's aircraft folder instead.
2) Run the "fs9lanc3ud11.exe" program and follow the prompts. The program will auto-extract the files and install them in the proper locations. If you don't trust the auto-installer, point the installer to a temporary location then copy/paste the files to the same locations in the "Avro Lancaster BIII" folder.
----------------------
Suggested Enhancements
----------------------
Des Braban has created a Lancaster panel package and a Lancaster sound package. This update aliases the Douglas DC3's panel and sound. Although they look and sound appropriately "vintage" your Lancaster flying experience will be greatly enhanced with Des's packages which are both available at Avsim: panel (
http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=38897), sound (
http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=39227).
---------------
Troubleshooting
---------------
After the first release of this update (V1.0) in 2003, the most common problem occurred when people installed the Lancaster B.III aircraft package *after* they had installed the updated files. This would cause the updated files to be replaced with the original and, in effect, cancel out the update.
The flight model was designed to be flown with the realism setting at "hard" and reflects the data in the war time Pilot's Notes and other real world data. Depending on what you're use to flying in Flight Simulator, you may find take-offs challenging in the Lancaster because it requires a good sized runway to come up to speed and it climbs slowly. Follow the take-off procedures in the udpated check list and also check the reference speeds.
If you find that on a 5000' runway you still can't take off even when following the correct procedures (i.e. you just seem to be completely lacking power), it's a likely sign that the update files didn't get installed in the correct location or in the correct order. If you suspect that's the case, just re-run the update auto-installer with it pointing to your FS2004 directory and that should correct the problem.

Many thanks to Dave Garwood for releasing his GMax Lancaster series as well as allowing me to update the flight model for FS2004. Also, many thanks to AvHistory for their Flight Model Workbook which was used to develop the new flight model.

Cheers Fsflyer.
Done and done. The sound package is really excellent.
The only slightly dissapointing thing is that the Lancs main wheels seem to touch down about two feet above the runway and only settle when it slows down. I'll have a bash at the contact points when I get some time. Nice plane!
Best..

Well...
I changed the verticle postion of the main wheels from -14 to -12.9 which has improved it somewhat but it's still not perfect so if anybody has any better ideas?
