Where would the fs9 config be after installing a fresh copy of vista 32bit but not re-installing fs9? and where can I get it or create a copy etc?

FS9.cfg does not exist until you install FS9. At install, it is created with initial setting based on your system and hardware.

Assuming that the Vista install included formatting, any previous FS9.cfg would be gone.

Do you mean you upgraded from Windows XP TO Vista, or did you install Vista on a new, blank hard drive?

:D  My Computor, C drive, "Users", "Your Log-in name", on the upper task bar look for the name "Organize" open it and click on "Folder and Search Options", click on "view", put a check beside "show hidden files and folders", click out of this and you will see a hidden file titled "Application Data", click on this and then find a file named "roaming", click on that and find the file named "microsoft " and click on that and Lo and Behold there is a file that reads "FS9"  Click on that and there is "fs9 cfg"  It is a large pain, but you only have to do it once.   "Fs9 cfg" can be deleted and it will regenerate itself when you open the sim.
