Freeware Aicraft Handling...........!

Does anyone know how to correct aircraft handling, so that you plane will fly "as it should"? I have the "Orca Air CRJ 2000" (I think that is the right name). It is a small "Lear Jet" type plane a little larger than the Bomardier. It flies like a "Tank" with wings. I have a 747 that handles better! Is there anyway to correct this in the Aircraft cfg. or something. Thanks in advance for you help! :(

Yes.. that's where you'd correct it... but if you don't know what you're doing, it could get messy.

The quick and dirty way to modify this stuff; is in two places. The [FlightTuning] paragraph, and the MOIs.

To go abut it more realistically means understanding the whole aircraft.cfg file, and sitting down to enter accurate numbers.

The problems with some add-ons is that the designer takes the quick and dirt approach. For example... if he wants to make the plane feel "bigger", he can increase MOIs and decrease control surface effectiveness.

It's a hobby all by itslef (aircraft.cfg modifying)...  You'll get plenty of help here, but you gotta get your hands dirty too.

ALWAYS make a backup of these files when experimenting.

Is there a guideline that I can find and follow for instance like default settings for cetain types of planes and i "plug" the numbers into the aircraft.cfg?

Example:

If I find that a plane is just too pitch sensitive (like the default Baron), I'll first confirm that the MOI numbers are close..  Then I'll go into the Geometry section of the cfg file and make sure that the horizontal stabilizer is the right size (span and area), and then make sure it's the proper distance from the reference point (not too far back or to near), and then check elevator area, and then check the elevator deflection limits... and if adjusting all of that still has it too sensitive... I'll cheat (last resort) and go into the flight-tuning paragraph and just reduce the elevator effectiveness ( 1.0 is default... try increasing/decreasing it by 0.05 and then fine tune it by smaller increments when you feel it's close).
