Hello everybody, yes, I'm a newbie again thanks to the new laptop. I know we had a thread or a link or something with a list of all the tweaks that cna be done to the CFG to make the sim look better, but apparently it's not in the FAQ (or I'm just more tired than I thought and overlooked it). Anyone care to show where it is?

What happened to 'It may not even go on the laptop?"

What happened to 'It may not even go on the laptop?"

Changed when I found out I could max my settings and fly through downtown seattle with overcast skies and still get 28 FPS

Open up fs9 and go into display settings. Max out all settings in the scenery tab BUT leave Ground scenery cast shadows disabled.
In the aircraft tab max everything out. In the weather tab set sight distance to 70miles, Cloud draw distance to 50miles, 3dcloud percentage to 100%, and cloud coverage density to Maximum.
Now go into the hardware tab, set the native resolution for your screen x32, anti-aliasing OFF, transform and lighting ON, render to texture ON, Filtering Trilinear.
Set the MIP MAP slider to 8.
Hardware rendered lights to 8
As always lock your max framerate to something from 20-30.
-TEST-
If your ground starts flickering lower MIP MAP SLIDER to 5, 4, or 3. I use 4.
-exit, and open fs9.cfg-
TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=180<---- How fast textures are sent. Low values can give blurries and high values can give you stutters. I would try a value of 180 for your mobile videocard.
TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=21

Thanks for the tips....I need to turn on AA in the sim or else I get none...something about the way this nVidia card works. It 'enhances' the application setting.

Jake, I think this happens with most Nvidia cards...if I turn off AA in sim, it looks quite bad...

Hi all.
This just goes to show how variable this all can be! Like a couple of others, I have to have the AA turned on in the sim, because if I use my Radeon's control panel instead, then not only is there no improvement in the visuals, they are not quite as good!
Also, my system runs better FPS-wise if the 'render to texture' is off. I've always had ground shadows and my plane shadows on because a) it looks better, and b) it has no perceptible effect on frames either way.
So each person's detailed configuration might be different based on their particular unique setup. Usually it's a case of try a particular setup but be prepared to tweak. (And don't forget to back up the original before you do!)

Hello All, Well as luck would have it I read this article and my problem was solved. I followed zerotimes specs but turned on the anti-aliasing and my god, what a difference. My shaded aircraft is gone and the scenery is awsome. I always had my fs9 sliders set to the max but had blurry textures. No more and by the way......Thanks a heap!
