A few simple questions...

Now that I have tmy graphics problem worked out to my satisfaction I have a few niggling questions that I thought would have aswered themselves by now, but have not;

What is the key-stroke command to lower/raise the tail hook on aircraft so equiped?

Some of my aircraft have a line of information at the top of the screen that gives lat, lon, heading, speed, etc (like when in the slew mode) all the time. How do I toggle this on or off?

Some of you refer to frame rates in hard numbers. How does one find the actual frame rate being achieved by your computer? I set a target rate and the action seems smooth, but I don't know how to find the actual rate.

What is mip mapping and what are the effects? I see I can set parameters WRT this in FS9 as well as in my video controller. Does one over ride the other?

And what is "Render to texture?" and why would I use it or not?

Thanks for any replies,

JLCGull

Okay the tail-hook needs to be set in your key commands as it isn't set as default.
The lat/long thing at the top can be toggled using CTRL+Z (this will also allow displaying of the frame rate).
Mip mapping is a graphics setting.
Rendering to texture allows you to use DXT clouds.

A. Tail hook is SHIFT-T, I belive.
B. Turn off lat/lon info- CTRL-Z x2
C. Don't know, I would rather not know for me! ;)
D. Don't know.
E. I would use Render to texture. It speeds my pc up for some reason.

You sound knowledgeable. i need your help, JLC. Follow this ----> http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2 ... 1180201304

Press Shift+ Z for default command. Press until it goes away. ;)

Press Shift+ Z for default commands until you find the counter. it is labeled FPS. Default FPS is 20.

What is mip mapping and what are the effects? I see I can set parameters WRT this in FS9 as well as in my video controller. Does one over ride the other?

This I don't know that well but it should improve the textures on the plane.

Any more questions just ask or PM me. :)

Jonathan,

Mip mapping allows a different set of textures to be applied depending on how close you are to the object.

I'll post a change to your fs9.cfg file that you might like in a miinute.

[MAIN]
Ave_Frame_Rate_Display=1

add the red line to your cfg file.

I've just tried adding the line and this what I get

What do the numbers following the fuel level mean? I'm pretty sure they weren't there before.

Jonathan,

Yup.

Over on the right side you see how FS is calculating the "displayed" framerate which is not the instantaneous framerate but a calculated smoothed average of a window of time ... it shows the low, the average, and the high, and the deviation %.

Sorry to bring this up again, but what does the <001.0> signify?
