frames per second is looooowwww...

well i recently added  JFK and heathrow scenery to my fs2004, and when i land at one of these airports my frame rate goes LOW..from bout 30mi out..it will gradually decrease to about 3-4 frames a sec! that is not good for trying to line up your landing, so is there any programs out there that can raise my frame rate above the 3-4 when landing?

What system are you running? Maybe it just can't handle the extra scenery?

If this problem happens consistently while landing, ensure you are using FS 9.1 (meaning, FS9 patched).

FS9 before the patch had a memory leak problem with autogen that, with time and use, brought down performances to atrocious levels, especially in landing.

If you're using FS9 with no patch, then simply go on the FS2004 FAQs. There you'll find a link to the patch.

i downloaded 9.1, but it says "fs91upd.exe is not a valid 32 application" and i cant install it..my dad says its because i have microsoft xp...?

Microsoft Windows XP has nothing to do with it. If you would please tell us your systems specs (what type of videocard, RAM etc). Most probably it is the scenery you add that causes the drop in FPS. These detailed sceneries ask for a lot of resources.

Its probably your system specs, i had the same problem with frame rates, on my old computer, they would go so low the game wouldnt be playable.

When a program that's supposed to work on windows (and coming from M$ nonetheless) shoots out the "This is not a valid win32 application"... it's time to re-transfer the whole damn thing because during the download the program was corrupted.


This at least is so 12 times out of 10.


This is why it would be a lot better if those programs were zipped beforehand and shared that way. Yes, the zip files are not beyond corruption, but at least when you see that the compressed file does not work, you know immediately why it's so.
