Well, to have a plane as an AI traffic you should compile a .BGL AI traffic file via TTools, a thing really not that simple nor intuitive, though not impossible. If I can do it, everyone can.

Mainly though it's not a good idea to use a flyable plane as an AI (with the notable exception of the default planes), because they are more detailed than the AI traffic ones and would bog down your system (the default planes aren't all that detailed and are handy for AI).
If you want to add AI traffic and planes, you can always use some free AI traffic packages from
Project AI or
World of AI.
