There is a tweak to stop the aircraft from oscillating up and down while on autopilot. Its not to bad unless you change altitude then it starts.If you increase the simulation rate to x2 you will get seasick. I cured this problem once before but have forgot what I did and like an idiot forgot to write it down. Can anyone re-enlighten me on what to tweak.

Get the aircraft properly trimmed before turning on the AP?

I've always just dealt with it. It will always happen a bit. Trimming may help, but it's more fun to fly by hand (better get a good joystick!)

Flying "by hand" always involves one hand on the yoke/joystick, and the other hand on the trim wheel to keep the aircraft stabilised.... ...!

I don't know about a tweak, but rather than pooh-pooh so much AP use (and rate increase) as I normally would , I'd suggest you not dial in changes on the AP while in a higher-than-normal sim rate.

That oscillating is just what airplanes do... the AP is pretty smooth, but not perfect. Often it has to "blow through" the set altitude, then settle down. Being at 2X or more will seem to exaggerate the effect. Not sure if that's what you're seeing, but it sounds that way.

Also, try a slightly lower vertical speed- the higher the VS, the harder it is for the AP to nail that altitude.

Some add-ons will oscillate no matter how you trim them.

Two things to tinker with are:

If you Vertical speed is around 1200 and above and you go to 2X then you have doubled the vertical speed to 2400 feet per min. Go to 4x and well you can figure it out the plane will jump around like water on a hot frying pan.

This is more than likely down to the actual config of the aircraft you are flying. PSS had terrible trouble with there first release B777, it would never hold a nice flat cruise and you felt seasick! Has now been fixed in one of their updates.

I have tried all suggestions but no luck. I think simonmd is correct its the ac config and I dont know enough to start playing with that but I suspect the ac geometry .  Have had this problem with other ac and got a few to work but not this time.
