Hello Chums... ;)...!

Has anyone else installed this lovely (Roger Mole) Cessna 340A piston twin from the latest FS 2004 downloads....>>>

...and found that you have to adjust the trim wheel to fully nose-up to obtain level flight.

When trimmed correctly the trim wheel should be approximately in the center position.

All my tours are having to be carried out with the Trim Wheel at its maximum setting, flying manually, fully nose-up... ...!
(Without this fully nose-up trim setting, the aircraft will not lift off the ground at take-off)...!!

It also gives trim problems when using the Autopilot, as well.

(Re-arranging the aircraft pay load has no effect on the trim).

It probably requires an alteration to an entry in the Airfile.cfg... ...?
..any ideas...?

Hi Paul. I haven't tried it but it appears to have been updated many times since Roger Mole had anything to do with it. ---> Original aircraft by Brian and Tim Novick. Updated by Roger Mole, Bob Chicilo and now by Brian Novick and Claus Vendelboe Holmberg.

Roger is our much-missed old mate RollerBall from this forum. He was very particular about flight dynamics so you might like to have a look round for his original update.

I've got it all sorted now, but it did take a lot of jigery-pokery with different Folders and files from the various versions, to obtain all the necessary gauges, etc, for the final aircraft.
(...and the Elevator Trim now works correctly with the updated file).

The aircraft makes a pleasant alternative to the Beech and Piper piston twins...with an excellent Sound File to boot!.... ...!

The problem is that you always bring Jordan along with you on these tours & lets face it, there's a lot of 'forward weight' there - maybe you should try getting her to sit in the back seat & see how that balances things out

Yes, I downloaded and installed the Cessna 340A last night, you are correct, it will not leave the ground even at high speed, I had to do it manually, and my problem is: I'm much too iliterate in this kind of thing, don't know how to change file  configurations  to make it take off properly.

Its a beautiful plane otherwise, nice sound too.

I think the proper file should come with all aircraft before they are released for downloading.

I did mention that I had tried varying the payload, Martyn...

But with her loveliness on board there is only so far that I can rotate the Elevator trim wheel to overcome the excess forward weight... ...!

...(banish from my mind, the word "excess"!)... ...!

...and Gary....Roger Mole (Rollerball) left a while ago because of all the grief, flaming, and aggravation on the FSX Forum when FSX first came out... ...!
...(and the reason why I still avoid it)... ...!

Good news... i was about to suggest you go into the Fuel & Payload window and put an 800-lb. gorilla in the back seat...

Even with the love of my life sitting in the back seat, wearing a Gorilla suit, didn't cure the problem... ...!

This happened because 340's were actually meant to sit on the ramp for the entirety of their lives.

Yeah, I'm seeing the same problem; I literally have to use the stick to keep it level; this is after giving it maximum trim too.  VERY nice freeware plane otherwise; too bad about the "auto down pitch".  Can anyone contact him to let him know about the problem?
