Nav, Beacon and strobe lights not working

Postby Charlie01 » Wed Mar 14, 2007 9:57 am

I am having a problem with all my FS 9 aircraft and most of my addons, seems that the strobe, nav, and beacon lights will not work. Landing lights and inside panel lights do work. I have tried switching them all on at same time using l key ( l as in landing) and switching them on individually using the aircraft panel switches, all with same result. Any ideas?

One of the recent add-ons you have installed has surely canceled or somehow corrupted the effect files corresponding to the lights you don't see anymore on your planes.

The only way to put them back is to take the "Effects" folder from the installation disks (don't remember which one, don't have my install disks with me right now, sorry) and copy its content inside the folder inside your FS9, overwriting all old files.

To open the .CAB files on the install disks suffices you have installed Winzip.

Charlie,

Check your \....\\Effects\texture\.. folder for 'fx_2.bmp'. The default file date is 6.18.2001. If this file has been altered it could explain all of your missing aircraft marker lights.

The 'effects' (and their required textures, in ...\Effects\texture\) are on CD#1\MSGame1.cab. If you are running XP you can access the files by double clicking on the .cab file,

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Also, look for the freeware upgrade that is named something like aynchronous strobes.  It makes the strobes MUCH more realistic.  Installing it might just fix everything for you.

best,
