Bye, bye FS9...

Postby ATI_7500 » Sun Feb 25, 2007 9:22 am

As of last night, my FS9 found its way into the digital Nirvana.

After assembling, testing and uploading the last, final version of my 737 panel, I decided to move on entirely and kick my FS9 off the disk - after having saved some add-ons on disk first. You may never know...

So, FS9, you've been a good boy. Tons of fun, hours of tweaking, always on ther verge of perfection, but never 100% of what I wanted. But you did your job. You did it well, and since I got my new PC, you did it fast. Lots of freeware delighted my flying experience. With you, I learned to hate 2D panels and sparse autogen and you were the base for Ultimate Terrain, which shifted the feeling of "being there" into incredible regions.
Sure, you had your drawbacks, especially in terms of terrain detail, but for the time you've been released in, you were the benchmark for a good looking civilian flight sim.

But it's time to move on after all. Your younger brother simply has the looks and the challenges I need from a modern flight simulator.
Let me be a pioneer in this world of rejection, even if this meant killing you to save you from the sorrow of waytching me use something else.

Forgive me, FS9 and dust away in peace.

Bj

Why can't you just have both FS9 and FSX in your computer?  :-/

Well, let us hold thumbs for you that you don't have to come back to the old. I have many friends here on the net and living in my area. Sadly, most of them are back with FS9.

FS9 will and always be my favorite.

Had both on the HDD, but since FS9 was only dusting away, I decided to kick it off entirely.

I bid you a good fight with the unreasonable requests of the new thing. [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif]

We all that remain here will be flying instead. 8-)

Of this, believe it or not, I'm pleased.

I'm a little less pleased that on my PC it didn't want to stop to stink to the heavens and had and still have no money to put in the Hardware Princes' fat bank accounts only to make a flight simulator work decently.

And no guts, no glory. ;)

...as long said guts remain inside the abdomen, I am willing to share this point of view. 8-)

Having to spill them to better my hardware only because at Redmont never learned how to code correctly...

I'm no samurai. :P

FSX is fine the way it is.

And for a flightsim of this caliber, Aces did a damn good job.

FS2000 was too. ::)

I'd hate to know your definition of "poorly done shitty job", then. :P

I am probably not getting FSX until there is a solution with the frames. I was doing a multiplayer flight with my friend and he said that FSX really stinks with the frames. Of course I have heard that many times before. I am not update unless 1: they find a way to fix FSX or the computers. 2: FS11 has better frames.  :)

There is none.

For the billionth time: Flight Simulators have, unlike any other piece of interactive entertainment software, a shelf life of 2-3 years, so they still have to look good by the time their successor, which looks even better, hits the market.
