Your opinion!

So what do you think?
I compared them with other planes and finally got my own opinion now, which I'll show you later.
Do you think he made one worth flying 737 (or the other planes)?

I've got two or three. Maybe more than that, I don't remember. A couple are good, some I don't like at all. I don't fly the heavies much, so I don't have an opinion on the 737.

His planes have better fde's than kaz ito's, but the models aren't perfect. They are easy on framerates thanks to his ideas on painting, and they don't look horrible.
(He's also good because he isn't switching to fsx

Mike Stone's planes are better than defaults by a long shot. If people uses defaults more is IMO for a combination of sloth and desire to use a VC (that I personally never use when IFR flight is concerned, VFR is another story and a kind of flight that a VC makes better).
They're honest planes. Sometimes with not so great dynamics, but better than other planes.

I'll quote this from Mike's website.
My philosophy for designing aircraft is simple. I design aircraft for fun. I am very much a casual simmer and my aircraft designs reflect that fact. If you are looking for aircraft with every bell and whistle, accurate to the last rivet, you won't find them here. On the other hand, you will find aircraft that are relatively simple to fly. They will work well on modest hardware. You won't need a nuclear powered PC to use them.
I am not out to please everyone. I design aircraft to my personal tastes. If they suit your needs, then use them with my blessing. If not, then just don't use them. It's that simple. If you don't like my work, then just go somewhere else, please.
Seems pretty clear to me.

Hi guys
I really like his work. Some of the best freeware planes out, imo.

They aren't the best, but they aren't bad. The only problem I've had with his planes is that the ones I've used, thrust reversers make the plane go FORWARD.

I dont like his planes a bit, but as he explains, that is his way and we should respect that. And i respect him because a lot of people do enjoy his models.

I think his concept is easier to understand like this:
In RC(remote controlled) aircraft modeling there are flyers, casual modelers, and devoted modelers.
1. Flyers make up the majority, using mostly almost ready to fly models and having fun.
2. Casual modelers, people like Mike Stone, build scratch built aircraft referred to as sport or fun scale. they aren't perfect but if you are looking at them from the ground what does it matter? They fly well enough for almost any flyer
3. Devoted modelers are people like alrot and samdim. they spend time making every model as close to real as possible. the models fly almost perfectly and look awesome.
We need all three types of people or life would get really boring!

I like his aircraft because they lend themselves to easy repainting. I probably enjoy repainting his aircraft almost if not as much as I like flying them I have about 13 of his planes repainted that are available on SimV. Some came out very nice and some came out simple and straight forward. I only wish I had the patience to make my own planes.

I have downloaded virtually everything he offers. I like that he included a self-installer for those of us who are installation-challenged. If only everybody did...
His models are simple, which is good in that anybody can fly them, right off the bat. I have the iFly 747 and can't even get the engines started! Where does that leave me? Nowhere, man...
I enjoy his Coyote Flapjack the most. It's outrageous and fun at the same time. It has almost limitless performance.
Would that I had the time and talent to design for FS. I have a design in my head right now that's powered by a 375 HP Chevy V-8 engine. I envision it able to climb near vertically at 300 knots. It is a low-wing, pusher design (two- or four-place models dance about in my head) and swings an 84-inch prop at 2800 rpm. It is of lightweight, composite construction and weighs maybe 2000-2500 pounds loaded. I'd like to see it designed and flown in FS10 someday...
