Slow start and aircraft numbers

Immediately after a clean install a couple of weeks ago my FS9 would start up in about 10 seconds. (From clicking the shortcut to the menus appearing.)
Now after adding all my AI it takes nearly 2 minutes. I've figured out that this is a result of the vast numbers of aircraft that are installed - just a tad short of 200 folders, often with 30 odd repaints in each. When they are removed the sim starts up almost in a flash.

I assume that all the aircraft must be checked during the startup process and this slows it down.
Is there any way of speeding this up, like telling FS not to check all the aircraft upon startup?

I don't think so.  Even if there was a way to make it skip that step on the initial load, once you start the actual sim (ie hit the Fly Now button) it would have to load everything and that would take time too.  I think it is more a question of where the time is spent than how much time is spent.  My sim takes a few minutes to load at first, but it gives me time to go do something else before flying, so I acually enjoy the long load time.

When installing the planes for AI is a good idea to ensure they are not visible to the user. Remember that when I installed the first time PAI, I let it install the planes visible and it dragged the times of start-up and plane selection to hell.

Took the time to make all the PAI planes invisible (setting the Aircraft Type value in the .air file to 2) and things returned manageable enough.
