No need, simply change this value in the FS9.cfg:

[OldModules]
FSSound.dll=0 < Change this value to 1

Happy flying

Its about 1/2 way down the page, to make it slightly easier, I have copied a bit of my .cfg;

[MAIN]
Location=165,9,849,728
HideMenuNormal=0
HideMenuFullscreen=1
Maximized=0
[FACILITIES]
COUNTRY=
STATE=
CITY=
GTL_BUTTON=6225
[OldModules]      <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
FSSound.dll=1
FSNav.dll=0
SoarRec.dll=1

If it's not there, I don't see the harm in adding the section, just remember to back-up the file  ;)

The [OldModules] header is not there by default. You have to add it. Copy the complete entry in blue below & paste it into fs9.cfg. It can can go anywhere you like but I suggest below the [MAIN]

Had the same problem, with the tiny little different that FS9 automatically created the OldModules-section.

Just had to put the 1 in and everything worked fine! ;D

...OK. .....C/Documents and settings/owner/Application data/microsoft/fs9........ is where mine lives. You might need to check "Show hidden files and folders". in Folder options. Make a shortcut when you eventually do find it. ;)

Added FSSound.dll=1 in the [OldModules] section, but I still get the prompt saying that FSSound.dll may be incompatible when I load FS9. Any ideas?

I've never had a problem with it. Open fs9.cfg in Notepad & make sure you spelled the new entry correctly* & saved the changes afterwards. If you did that the only thing I can think of is that your FSSound.dll is corrupt. Try this one. http://pwdt.virtualskies.net/download/FSSound.dll

*PS. The easiest way would be to copy the entry from my reply & paste it in. Then exit Notepad saving changes.

[OldModules]

Misspelled the [OldModules] part. Fixed it and it works now. :)
