i searched frantically for an answer but couldnt find one....that wasnt in geekspeek anyway ::). Will FS9 work with vista? i know my pc will work with it, but not sure about flight sim, and as i can get vista on the redemption card!!! its a possibility but if it will ruin my flight simming experience, or not work at all then i wont tempt it. I will keep my vista theme pack.

Thanks

I heard of people having problems in running FS9 under Vista, and at the same time the same people had no problem running FS2002.

The reasons? Ask uncle Bill, not me.

After all, if one so badly wants to pass to a green OS like that, should prepare himself to remain disappointed in more than one way.

I'd stick with just Windows XP Pro or Home. That way you don't have any problems running FS2004. Vista takes up so much harddrive space thus spending more money on bigger harddrives just so you can keep files on there also.

But then again that is not entirely correct.
As any DirectX release, DX10 is backwards compatible, which means that a PC running the latest DX10 runtimes can still run (in theory, at least, and unless there are other software or hardware incompatibilities) software titles using legacy versions of the libraries.
The opposite can be held true: Windows XP is not compatible with DirectX10.

Unless some freaking genius finds a way around it with great pleasure from Seattle. [smiley=evil.gif]

Ouh, that could be true... (haven't thought of that ^^)

Thanks for the correction, Friday. ;)

After all I have no idea of Vista (and at least, I want to have an apple before one Vista-pack gets under my roof).

Recently loaded FS 2004 onto new PC with Vista (not an upgrade) and to date haven't had any issues with running the sim.  Of course because it is the latest OS there will be issues that will pop-up along the way in one form or another but so far I am actually quite satisfied.

VISTA has backwards compatability because it incorporates a format coded DX9L as part of the DX10 install.

It works fine for all games

Well, it's likely that some very legacy titles which barely ran under XP could have some problem under Vista.
Anyone cares to try Grand Prix Legends?  :)
(I love it)

I'm ready to wager my @$$ that' it's easier to fly and land a real MD80 without having done it before than to be able to do something with GPL in less than a month of strenuous, continuous training. :P

I still remember the frustrating sessions that brought me to buy even a wheel (which pedals I'm nowadays using to control the rudder of my planes). ::)

I loved it too. Still do. Never going to use it again though. ;D

I don't know... I too had a hard time with it at first, and never really became a champ, but ultimately managed to win a few online races and then I nailed the steering wheel to my wall. A bit like Eddie Irvine.  ;D
