Low framerates on touchdown

Postby nnw » Sat Feb 10, 2007 12:24 pm

Hello all

Whenever the wheels kiss the tarmac, the framerate reduces to such an extent that it feels like I'm watching a slideshow!! Very frustrating....

Is there anything that can remedy this? I've got a very high spec machine and graphics card, so that can't be the problem at all. I get excellent framerates with all the sliders set at maximum.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Regards,
Neil

Post your system specs and then we can better determine whats going on. What view are you using? Anything running the system tray?

Hum.....what happens that is different when the wheels kiss the tarmac?

Maybe a sound card driver issue when the "thunk" or "screech" effects file is attempted to be palyed?

Just guessing.

Possibly delays caused by sound files loaded and played at touchdown/rollout. Usually this just causes a short stutter at touchdown.

Could be as John stated, or else-

If it happens on all aircraft:

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Have you added any landing smoke FX? Maybe that's the problem.

I was thinking the same thing.....

If you could post your system specs, it would be very helpful...

Hmmm thats weird, maybe autogen and traffic reduced it... but just when the wheels go down? thats weird I must admit.

First thing first, ensure that your FS9 is V9.1, if it isn't, then proceed installing the M$ patch. ;)

If it is, or installing the patch brings no surcease, enter in the settings and disable force feedback. :D

Nine times out of ten, doing what I wrote resolves your problem. 8-)

Did you make sure the installer was inside the Main FS folder when you installed it? If not, the installer can sometimes corrupt modules that FS needs to run. Try re-installing the patch, if you are still experiencing problems, a full reinstall may be necessary.

Thanks for all the help everyone!

Turned out that my joystick settings had force feedback enabled, when it doesn't support it.

Simple solution to a long time problem!!
