Sliders and Settings Still Broken

I am having some severe trouble with FS9. None of the sliders in my settings menus work. Also, in 'display options' there are no tabs for 'aircraft' 'weather' 'hardware'. I have all my loved add ons backed up to DVDs so I am not afraid to uninstall. However, even after what I thought was a complete uninstall, i.e. removed app. data from user settings and then used the uninstaller on the disk and then double checking, the problem persists after I reinstall. Has anybody seen this and what am I missing in my uninstall?

Seems to me like you're having a problem either with your graphic card drivers or with DirectX. Try and reinstall either or both.
For last, if you have a AGP videocard, you might having problems with the AGP drivers of your mainboard too. Should this be (if you've already reinstalled the other two sets of drivers), try and reinstall this last driver as well.

Ashaman,
Thx for the advice but to no avail. Updated drivers and DirectX and still not a thing. I am confused as heck. It started after I installed FlyTampa's Seattle scenery package. But not right after, maybe four days. Thinking about a possible registry write or something that could conflict. Wouldn't really know where to begin. It's a good thing I live in Misty Fjords and can get on a real Beaver for 25 bucks! I have a copy of FSX being shipped and I hope that whatever has got hold of FS9 doesn't mess with it too.
Grrrrrrr,

Unless you have a ninja PC FSX will work poorly, and even if you have a ninja PC FSX will work poorly, compared to what it gives. We're speaking of a software that tried on a quad core with 4 GB ram and a couple of Geforce 8 for a total of 1 GB video ram could not get over 24 fps. The FS2000 V1.5 for real.
I don't really know what your actual problem might be, but I don't think is FS9. I might be wrong of course, but I suspect a format and complete OS re-installation might be necessary.
Try X out, if you want. Hope it'll work better. And even hope you'll be satisfied of it's poor performances.

Ashaman,
I worked it out in my own way and maybe its better. I've done something that I never did and went into fs9.cfg. Backed up, of course. Maybe I'll learn something. Got a fairly good image at 1280x1024 with 22fps and I can deal with that. Not so much on the graphics as I am the navigation sort of stuff. But I didn't want to be stuck with 800x600 and very low.
Why would Microsoft use such a mega system to run a basic consumer product. I am downloading the demo now and the other is in the mail. Are their sys. reqs. way off?

Well, when you wrote you uninstalled and reinstalled it all, I took for granted you had already tried the old trick of deleting the old fs9.cfg and let the sim rebuild it. :-?
Anyway, happy to know you did it. Have fun with the last usable version of the Flight Simulator series.
