I messed up again... sigh...

Ok, here's a new one... during my normal add-on install-procedure, I managed to drag my entire FS9 folder to my desktop. It took me a while before I found out where it had gone... the horror! So I remained calm and simply dragged it back into the C:/program files.... root. However, FS won't run anymore... Major bummer, as I've just re-installed a ton of stuff...

Can I just reinstall fs9 from CD-rom on top of this file, without erasing the addons? Or should I rename the current FS9 folder, reinstall FS9 and drag the add-ons back into the installed folder?

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Omag

Kris, the fastest thing to do is rename your FS folder. Then make a clean install of FS9. Drop the aircraft, gauges, effects, sounds, scenery, addon scenery, texture folders from the old FS into the new FS. Overwrite everything. If you had any scenery installed you need to add them again in Settings. The rest should work.

So you dragged the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9 folder to the desktop. Then you dragged it back into C:\Program Files. I guess that during this second move you were not asked by Windows to overwrite anything, since you moved the entire folder (and thus there was no "Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator" folder in C:\Program Files).
And I guess, also, that you did not try to start FS9 from the desktop.
If both guesses are correct, and FS won't run just because you moved a folder and then put it back in place, the only thing I can guess is a permission problem (access permissions to files and folders messed up during the move).
What file system are you using on the FS partition? I guess NTFS?
And, what kind of error messages exactly are you getting when you try to run FS?
