What is you favourite aircraft?

Postby Conan Edogawa » Sat Jan 13, 2007 4:36 pm

Hey guys. I'd like to know what your favorite aircraft is and why it is your favourite.
Why do you love it?
Do you like it because it is good to fly or is it the model or what...?
Do you have more than one favourite plane?
We all know the ralistic factor *no comment* of the default planes. Do you fly them either?

I am very interested in your statements (little screenshot is welcome)! :D

Many happy landings,

Conan ;)

I have 3 favorite planes:

A-10, Kazuroni Ito's model with the hud upgrade - Looks good, fun to fly(10g circles are fun!), awesome aircraft
Ra-5c, Alphasim's now freeware model, someone's panel - great model, a little bit of a challenge to fly
Globe Swift, Lyon's model - Beautiful model, great flying, awesome ski and amphibious versions.

Currently, gotta be the Turbo Baron...

Why?

  • Because it's a beautiful aircraft
  • Because it has so much power under the "hood" ;D
  • It sounds AMAZING!!! :o
  • It crusies quick enough to fly medium length flights without growing too bored
  • It has to be the best multiplayer GA aircraft available
  • Although modeled around the default Baron, it feels so much more real

It's brilliant - you can find a Turbonormalised version here at SimV, although the one I have is "b58tc.zip" at Av**m. ;)

Well, it depends on what we're talking. Defaults it's hands down the 737-400 =P It may not be accurate, it may look like crap, but it's AMAZINGLY fun to fly.

Payware: For "Fighter Jets", Lago's F-16. So much fun, easy to use, yet realistic.

For "Props" It's the Captain Sim C-130. Real fun, Kinda heavier on the frames, but still flyable.

The Alphasim B-1B also gets a mention, because, Who doesn't find it fun to fly at Mach 1.2, very low to the ground, with a huge plane like that?  ;)

Freeware: The F-14 Tomcat Rev. 4 is nice, As well as the Mirage 2000N (Page 79, 2nd to last). Very nice flight model, great VC, easy on the frames. So many nice planes, Not enough time to fly them  ;D

That is a hard question.
Payware...CS F104, C-130, B707 The F-104 will see how good you are at landing.
Alphasim aircraft, B-58 is a good pilot trainer on landings. Far tougher that the F-104. Also their F-22 & Typhoon.
Freeware...Milton S. Howard 500. All his stuff is very nice. Would like to own that Howard, the real thing is
based not to far from my home.

A few to consider, although I will put a slighly different slant on it, and mention one or two designers:

Firstly, Rick Piper. Started with repaints IIRC but now produces some of the best freeware around (Chipmunk, HS748/Andover etc).

Dave Maltby - real nice claasic airliners.

As for payware, I can comment Plane-Design highly for their Lancaster and Spitfire, and hope for good things from them in future.

Shockwave - Wings of Power series.

Real Air Simulations - good GA aircraft and the Spit!

If I had to choose one? Possible a Razbam Skyraider at the moment, followed by the PD and RAS Spitfires...

well, now it is the HJG RC-135U

because, its simple, ugly, and can jam radar/radio signals for thousands of cubic miles

as of 8:04 pm eastern i just flew 12.5 hours continous in this,

and in my defense, i put well over one hundred hours in the B-29 and the Stratocruiser, and its not really a tube, its covered in bulges and protrusions

What do I do you ask? I struggle! Then destroy! Then try to put back together what I just broke on accident.....

For me it would have to be the Huey Gunship by Jordan Moore on Hovercontrol. It flies good, looks good and with a sound upgrade sounds incredible! :o

I like the Level D 767.  It gives me enough features to keep me somewhat busy, and enough autopilot to make me lazy  ;)

My next favorite will probably be either the default C172 or a SIAI SF260
Cheers,

For me, right now, it would have to be the Beechcraft Baron 58.
It looks really cool, and once you're in the air and flying level it can fly itself FOREVER!

so good, you can't believe it's not payware.  :o (so are all his planes, but that's my fav. )

but ask me tomorrow, and I'll definately  say something different.    :P

After reading this I went and downloaded it and I must say I agree 100%! Great plane!
