FSX Add-on Planes in FS9?

Postby drafttek » Tue Jan 30, 2007 10:36 pm

Does anyone know if FSX add-on aircraft will work in FS9?  My machine can't run FSX.

No idea, but my guess would be "No".

I'd wait for other people to answer before attempting though  ;D

Just tried it...(Grumman Goose & CRJ)

A resounding NO to adapting these for FS9. An error message comes up when selecting the aircraft in the menu. I wonder if it has to do with the way the models are compiled, e.g., there are 3 files within the model folder of FSX aircraft, with the interior model being separate.

I have done it before and had it work but I am not sure if all FSX addons will works in FS9. Give it a try and if it doesn't work, just remove it.  :)

Again - if it's an FS9 model with FS-X tweaks to the aircraft.cfg, then *possibly* - if the aircraft.cfg tweaks don't screw up.

*AT THIS TIME* I'm seeing the most FS-X models are tweaked FS-9 compiles., but I expect that to gradually change as models are either converted and recompiled, or remade from scratch.

The only way to find out is to try them but I would have to ask what benefit this will be. There are very few proper FSX addons available at the moment as the developers are still getting to grips with it. Most FSX addon aircraft I've seen are simply existing FS9 models tweaked to work in FSX.

My reasoning in this is that new FS9 add-ons will be dwindling as developers switch to FSX.  Since I can't run FSX, and am not going to spend yet more money on computer upgrades, it would be nice to run the new FSX planes.  I tried Tim Piglet Conrad

Actually i have seen the opposite. I see more fs9 add ons being released than fsx at the moment. I get the library update emails from A**** and there are alot more fs9 addons.
