Is there a way to make Gradual Transition off by default?

Yeah, just check (or uncheck, I forget) the GT box in Views on your default flight and then save it again as the default flight.  Pretty sure I'm remembering correctly, I'll check my FS later on.

Views>View options> Spot menu, uncheck Gradual Transition.

Load up your current default flight. Follow the steps above, then when back in the sim, hit the ; key, and call the flight what you want. But remember to check the 'Make this your default flight' box  ;)

what i do is i have one flight i fly from airport to airport and save it every time I land, and that way i can set it up the way i like and keep it that way. its also fun to do that, you can fly around the world or your favorite country. just press the ; button to bring up the save screen save and contenue to the next airport but so far i havent figured out how to make it sta that way as default  

It's often better not to save an ongoing flight as default, as some add-on panel are complex enough that they might confuse FS (in terms of what it thinks it has to do) at startup if you save it as default. I'm doing a round-robin trip in Nevada and California in the TinMouse 732 and while it's great to save and continue next time, the startup and shut-down sequence may not work properly if set as default. My advice would be to start FS in one of the default planes - mines's the Baron, configured to be cold and dark - and then load youir preferred flight. No hassles that way.

No I see what you mean. Infact, my default flight is the C172 at Sea-Tac, I've simply changed many of the settings. (Such as gradual transition, engines/lights off etc.)

Rootbeer, I was the one who told you how to do it!  ;D

Just follow these instructions:

Click 'Fly now'

Go: Views -> Options -> (Spot view tab) Uncheck the Gradual transition box -> Return to flight -> Press the ; key -> Click on the name of your current default flight (if this is the Cessna 172 @ Sea-Tac, simply create a new one called Default) -> Check the 'Make Default Flight' box -> OK.

You SHOULD be all set. I'm not sure why everyone has overlooked my post above which already explains how to do it.....  ::)

I'm curious as to what the benefit of turning this off is?  

No 'benefit' James, just a matter of presonal preference.

If your preference is 'gradual transition-off', save it with your default flight and that setting will be preserved in any new flights you create.

Cool I'll have to try it and see which I prefer.  I have always had it on so no idea of what it's like when it's off.  Thanks for the reply.

It is a benefit to those who own Active Camera. AC has a better 'form' of gradual transition built into it, and so with the FS version also turned on, the spot view shakes back and forward rather violently.

I wasn't aware of that as I don't use AC. But a good tip for those who do.
