What's the easiest way to have all or some of the aircraft in the \aircraft folder being used by FS for the AI traffic?

I would dare to suggest TTools v0.6 for fs2002. I find it very good for my fs9.

But not sure if it's this you mean.

My only question is why on god's green earth do you want to do this. Granted it is a easy task to do all you have to do is to make a copy of the planes folder renamed so you will not get confused as to which one is AI and which one is not. Leave the panel folder out of the AI copy and then just make flight plans with the aircraft.
The ony problem is that most aircraft that were designed to fly are not the best choice to use as AI because of the textures they use it can have a big negative effect on frame rates. So if you are allready struggling to get decent frame rates this is a bad idea.
There is so many AI specific aircraft out there that you should be able to find one that matches the flyable model you want to use as AI. I strongly suggest you use AI specific aircraft and not ones that are flyable. But it is your sim and you can do what you want but do not be surprised when your frame rates go down. 8-)

The only way to do what you want is to define a personal traffic file with TTools. It's easier than one could believe, only need a little application. Only suggestion I feel like giving you is along the lines already given by garymbuska. Pay attention to what plane you're going to use as AI. Some planes, like for example the iFdg or the POSKY ones, are very detailed and nice looking, but beasts on the framerate if used as AI. Using them as traffic you can redline your PC and simulator quite easily.

OK, so I didn't think about the frame rate hit problem. I guess I will let this sleep then.
PS: I though the earth was the "blue" planet  ;D

I would like to take a look at them, but didn't see them on the main fs9 download page.
Are they just among the regular aircraft?

Most sites don't really have their own area for AI aircraft, but some do.  If you want to take a look at alot, Avsim has a whole section dedicated to FS2004 AI Aircraft.  Other sites like PAI etc. focus on AI and you'll find lots of AI planes there...but no, you won't find many scattered around on most sites.

Avsim has a ai planes section that is updated quite regularly, you should be able to find something there.
