I just started having a problem with downloading the real world weather ,has worked fine then all at once won't download. I have high speed 8 meg broadband service, firewall disabled still no go. Is there any settings within the config that i might be able to check?   Error message says check internet connection and configuration not sure what else to check besides the menu screen set up.

If you can get to the page http://fs2k.zone.com/ you should be able to download the weather.
If you get "...cannot display the webpage." it is likely that the weather server is having problems.

Download FSMetar...it'll get you through these periods when fs2k.xone.com
is down. A free download and seamless interface to FS9/FSX.
Just open it then start either FS sim.

Are there any advantages in using FSMetar instead of the FS2004 built-in real weather feature?

FSMetar is, though not coming up to ActiveSky's peaks, quite more accurate than default weather AND freeware (it's not a bad thing). For someone who wants only to use freeware the optimal configuration would be to use FSMetar as main weather system and the lesser default weather as backup when the FSMetar servers (be it for a reason or another) cannot be reached.

The servers are back up atleast here in the eastern US, I think the FS Metar program is well worth the download, and always good to have a back up. i used the link above http://fs2k.zone.com/ to check server status before starting flight. If you can access that page the servers are a go if not FS Metar is the way to go.
