VC gagues not working in 747 panel.

I've just installed Maasimo Grassi's 747-400 panel on the fs9 default 747.   It's a lovel nice panel but I see the gagues don't work in VC mode, which is where I like to fly from.    Can someone tell me if this is usual with this panel?   All my other panels with a VC have gagues that work.    Is there a fix to get them working?   I did install it exactly as he directed, too.

Thanks,
TW

The 2d panel won't affect the VC. So adding a 2d won't change anything in the VC. The VC is part of the aircraft model itself.

Hi TW. If you could post a link to the page this panel is posted on maybe I or someone else could check it out.

The 2d panel won't affect the VC. So adding a 2d won't change anything in the VC. The VC is part of the aircraft model itself.

The DVC gauges are defined in Panel.cfg so it's important the VC entries are correct.

Hello Hagar.
I found it on Flightsim fs2004 panels at panl7400.zip plus the patch gb01ptdm.zip
It's such an improvement on the default panel & I'd really like to get it fixed.   As I've said, it's the only VC I have not to have working gagues.   Very strange.
Many thanks.

Right. I downloaded the files to check the panel & all is now as clear as the proverbial mud. The Panel.cfg has no VC entries. I suspect that copying the complete [VCockpit01] & [VCockpit02] entries from the original B747_400 Panel.cfg & pasting them into the appropiate place in the new one will fix it. I'll check it out later.

PS. I don't usually check files posted on other sites but this one intrigued me.

Voila!

This is obviously the default DVC so if you wish to use it there is no benefit in changing the panel.

Hagar - I worship at the altar of your insightful genius.    8-)

You talk about the proverbial mud & when I read your reply that is just what it looked like, but having checked  both cfg files I saw what you meant, so I copied both the entries you mention & Voila indeed.
I have it in Mike Stone's 747-400 & have had a nice proving flight from Victoria BC to Seatlle, so my grateful thanks for sorting the problem for me.
TW.

I must now learn to get the cockpit view you got!!

I'm delighted to help but I'm afraid you lost me somewhere along the way. Mike Stone's 747 has no DVC so I'm not sure what this was all about. If you're happy so am I. ::) ;)

The cockpit view in my shot is of the FS9 default B747_400 in VC mode. I zoomed out a couple of times & panned round with the PoV HAT on my joystick.

Well - I got muddled too.   Too much on my plate to get things right, but here goes.

The Grassi panel that you sorted was in the default 747-400 & works a treat.  It wasn't in the Mike Stone 747.

HOWEVER, I aliased the M.Stone 747 panel to the default 747 panel & got the 2D panel (Grassi) alright but the VC didn't show up.  So, I copied & pasted the whole default 747 panel folder into the Stone 747 thinking now it had the whole shebang the VC would show up, but it doesn't.   The 2D does but not the VC.

No sweat as it works alright in the default 747 OK, but I am intrigued as to why having put the panel folder into the Stone aircraft I don't get a VC showing like it does in the default 747?.

I hope this makes sense?

Thanks for explaining that. As Ozzy pointed out earlier the VC is part of the visual model. If the model doesn't include a VC there's nothing you can do about it.

FSX aircraft have a separate VC model so it should be possible to swap them around or even add them to aircraft without one. This would only work in FSX & I haven't experimented with it yet.

Thanks for explaining that.  I have to say I didn't understand what's meant by 'part of the visual model'
except that it might mean in the aircract cfg.  I must compare & contrast (just like being back at college) the 2 aircraft when I have time, to see the differences.   I'm assuming that the missing bit can't be added, like the panel cfg trick!!
Cheers,
Terry W
Or is it the Air File?!!

:-?

Ever since when has the good ole Mike done a 744? His only venture in jumboland has been his 742SP (the only 747 Special Performances working under FS9 as I write these words).

That's hardly relevant. I knew what Terry meant.
