Where do I go...

...when the gates are full? I just arrived at Vienna from Toronto in an Austrian A332, and there is NOWHERE to park! What can I do now? Is there some sorta a holding place for a plane?
Is there anyway to get like IRL where you KNOW what gate you are supposed to be at?

I know there is a way of coding AFCAD to leave the gates free, but I'm not the one to say unfortunatly.
Best thing I can think of is to simply delete the parking space and remeber where to park! As ATC will no longer direct you there!

You should have gone to Innsbruck. Much nicer than Vienna! Vienna is full of pseudo-Austrians according to all my Austrian friends (who are not from Vienna). They are hated by the rest of their countrymen

You could grab some gas and hop over the border to Budapest for a wine tasting at my place if you like Jake

"What can I do now?"I have UT . . . ;D
Alternately, open LOWW in AFCAD2 and add parking-spots

@ ozzy: Well Innsbruck is a little small for the A330...and I was doing a real route...
@ wji: Well I have FlyTampa's Vienna, so I dont want to change the AFCAD. It has the right number of gates, I just have a lot of AI. I guess I can try turning it down, but it cant really get much lower...

What I do is throwing out the traffic, taxi to the gate, park, turn traffic back on.

Have you tried changing slightly your sim time? I mean of only 5 minutes or so? Doing so you force FS to recalculate all the AI traffic and sometimes it works wonderfully.

Funny story came from this...I looked around and saw an open gate, but the gate was not the right size (like small not heavy), but since I was there I went to it anyways. Literally the SECOND I shut down, the option to taxi to a gate showed up and the proper gate opened.
What Im really wondering is what do they do in real life? Is there like a hold point?

Jake,
Well... let's see....... from past personal experiences in the RW.......
How about after landing you taxi to some obscure dark part of the airport way away from the terminal that has little traffic through it and then park there for 20 minutes with all but the APU off and the air conditioning in the cabin set to a minimal setting on a nice hot night. Then you taxi to another location and sit there for another 20 minutes with all the passengers totally PO'd. Then taxi 10 minutes back toward the terminal v...e...r...y slowly..... and wait neat the terminal on the ramp for another 5 minutes.
All the while having the waiting families inside the terminal being told that the aircraft was still enroute for that extra hour.
As real as it gets! ;D
best,
........................john
This is exactly opposite to my experiance. After arrival in Frankfurt and Bremen, we taxied directly to the gate and debarked. The flight was delayed leaving Berlin and when we landed in Frankfurt for our connecting flight back to Philadelphia, we were met by a Lufthansa employee at the jetway and escorted down the emergency exit to a waiting bus to ferry us from the domestic terminal to the spot about 500 yards from the terminal where we boarded our flight via a mobile airstair. In Philly we stopped on the taxiway once or twice, but total time on the ground was only about 15 minutes.

Innsbruck is too small for an A-330 ? Last plane I took over there was an A-340 400, fully loaded except for the fuel burnt on the over from Stuttgart.... Went down nicely, lots of room left.... But they didn

You're not running your sim at 100% traffic, are you?
If you are trying to be "real", then 100% is not real.
Try lowering it to around 75 - 80% as That Is Real!
