3D panel

Hi all......can anybody tell me if there is a simple way to miss out the Virtual panel when cycling through the views (S key)?

I know lots, maybe most of you fly with this panel and some won't even look at a plane without one, but I only ever use the 2D panel and find it a minor nuisance having to go past it each time I go from panel to spot........it would be handy to miss out the tower view too. Just to go from panel to spot and back again would be a major boost to my flying experience.

There may be a simple way but so far it has eluded my old brain cells.

Thanks to anybody who can enlighten............commoner ;)

You can cycle the views in both directions using S or SHIFT+S, so cycle the opposite direction ;)

I don't think you can do much about it. I've been trying to remove the tower view for a long time. Never succeeded. The only  way, I think, is like Ozzy said, go back and forth with S and Shift-S.

Crash ;)

Hi commoner.

I don't think there's much you can do, except what Ozzy suggested. If you also don't get on with the tower view, there's a module called Fly-by available here that'll convert the tower view into a nice fly-by mode.

There is a way of removing the DVC completely by hex-editing the individual MDL files. I don't know if this would do what you want.

You could try this first. Found on another forum:

In fs9.cfg find the SEE_SELF=1 entry under [GRAPHICS] & change the 1 to 0.

Note that this will affect all aircraft.

PS. Just tried it. This tweak removes the side views from the 2D panel but does not affect the DVC.

I've discovered that not all hex editors will do this but here's the basics. It's really very simple.

First make a backup copy of the MDL you intend editing in case anything goes wrong.

Open the MDL file in your hex editor & use the Search/Find function to find the SECOND* occurrence of this string

00 22 00 39 00

Change the 39 to 00 & exit your hex editor saving changes.

I used XV132 Hex Editor here: http://www.realkarachi.com/download-free-programming-softwares.php?category_id=16&parent_id=3

PS. This will remove the DVC & interior views from the visual model but not the actual VC view mode.

*NOTE: Make sure it's the second occurrence, not the first which will probably make your aircraft invisible.

..mmmm..well that was simple enough, unfortunately , athough it removes the offending panel it doesn't remove the need to cycle through the series....AND it removes the interior of the cockpit too.......ah well, can't win 'em all. At least I have a nice new Hex Editor now...........commoner ;)

So simple, yet so hard to grasp. :D

Set your "down" arrow to "view(chase view on/off)".
Set your "up" arrow to "view(maximize)".

When flying in the panel of your choice, hit the down then the
up to get the spot view, then hit the down to go back to the
panel you were flying with.

SHIFT+S from panel takes you to spot, S from spot takes you to panel.  If you want to 'get rid' of the VC, use recorder and set a new VC view WAY out front of the nose and leave it on that view, then when you switch youll be in the VC but wont see any VC.

...lol...all good stuff lads but still far from what I wanted ;D.........I just want to press "S" to cycle views with only the Spot and 2d panel in the Cycle. In other words remove the 3D and Tower views from the cycle.......at the moment I have put the "A" key to cycle backwards so I can now have two fingers on the adjacent A and S keys this seems to be the best compromise I can get.........thanks again........commoner ;)
