Installation Problem

I installed FS2004 twice tonight and in each case when I tried to run the sim it keeps giving me a message that reads, "Please insert FS2004 Disc 4, select OK and restart application."

Disc 4 has been in the drive since the completion of the install. Simulation refuses to start. What a way to start off. Any ideas?

Hello i know this isn't the way to solve the problem( because there's something wrong, is funny though because your sim is not working and you have donne it so many times, the same process and now it doesnt work, my problem is i have my choice of best plane were i keep on my hard drive so i just have to copy them to the fs dir and fly them, gess what they dont work this time) but the best thing to do is to get the no cd patch from Microsof and the fs9 patch, i know its going around the problem but try if it doesnt work then it must be something else.
Hope it helped.
Cheers

Well for starters I think you will have a hard time finding the no cd patch from M$ since they did not make it and will not in any way support the patch as it is pirateing. My only question is are the disks you are using the orignal install disks or are they copies.

I'd try the really obvious first, clean the disk and drive ;)

I have legitimate sealed Microsoft package of FS2004 that I bought from Amazon.com. No funny business here. They are all "real" MS CDs.

What I failed to explain was my computer accidentally rebooted (my fault) during the initial first install and I assume this is why it isn't installing properly. Something is messed up (in the registry, possibly?). If I can clean out the mess I should be successful because...

I tried it on another computer (not my personal one) and it installed and ran flawlessly. So my computer is the problem. Where do I start to clean up whatever the reboot messed up?

Whenever I've had this sort of problem I find an uninstall of FS9 usually does the trick. Reboot after uninstall is complete & before starting again. Disabling anti-virus software is a good idea.
