Hi again.

Could some please explain to me how to get FS to show the ATC text when the controller speaks as I only get text on the screen when I initiate it and it is only what I am saying to ATC? I do have `show ATC text

speedmonkey, among the icons for things like GPS and radio you'll find one that shows 'headphones.' Click on that and you can get a 'transcript' of all recent ATC communications.

If you don't have that icon on a given aeroplane, call up the menu, go to Aircraft/Kneeboard/Keys, and you'll find a key combination to bring the ATC screen up.

Doesn't the ~ key work for you (top left of keyboard)? When they reply to me, no text comes up, so I hit that key and it appears.

I Don't remember the exact text of the button, but from the same screen in "ATC" you also have to have the box checked that says something about the ATC window automatically opening and closing.

I have a button on my joy stick slaved to the commond for 'open and close' the ATC window. Irritating when you're in the middle of landing and fargin ATC window pops up.

In a bit of a fog, speed-monkey.

1. If you have your ATC Settings the way Commoner shows in Post 4 the window should open automatically, and you'll see the ATC message.

2. Even if it doesn't you can open it yourself by pressing the '~' key at top left.

3. In any case, even if you don't note down the details, your own acknowledgement will repeat the instructions.

4. Even if you're STILL in trouble, you can use the key combination in the Kneeboard or the 'headphone' icon to call up a transcript of the last 10 or so messages you've received.........

I wonder if the problem is that you've been messing around with the assignments too much?  For one example, I can't see the point of assigning the joystick trigger to calling up ATC, since the key at top left is just as convenient?

In any case, by default the joystick trigger operates the brakes when taxiing and landing; IMO it's a darn sight more useful in that role than just being assigned to messing around with ATC?

If you're still in trouble, please expalin a bit more what you're trying to do, what keys etc. you press to try to achieve it, and what assignments you've changed? We're all trying to help, but none of us can understand what's going wrong, operating ATC is usually just plain simple and foolproof?

Thank you for the info. For some reason when I post a responce on this site it takes several days for it to be displayed.  ??? Am I just imagining it, or when the ATC would talk to you or another AC the dialog box would open automaticly and write out the text on what he had just said? Write now I have to hit (~) to view their messages as they are speaking.

I am using a Saitek X45 (my Thrustmaster F22 HOTAS is to stiff for civilian type AC :'() so I have the ATC on the trigger al`a real aircraft and have my brake button on the throttle. I am reinstalling FS 2004 again so I hope this will fix it. Will post results. Cheers.
