If the disk is buggered you can contact MS and arrange a replacement. They're good about that sort of thing ;)

Uhh, keep trying it. I reinstalled mine and it took 11 or 12 tries to get all of it installed. Sometimes I'd get no further than the first disk, other times as far as disk 3. Keep doing it over and over.

'Till you go insane. It might still work.

A very silly thought but have your tried cleaning the disks and head of the drive? Sometimes that fixes these silly woes ;)

Two suggestions I feel like give you.

1) Do as Ozzy already told. ;)

2) Should that not work, download... the disk? :o NO!!!  ;D That's not a nice thing to do, rather go here: http://www.deaddiskdoctor.com/ and download DDD.

Dead Disk Doctor is a free tool for recovery of data from damaged disks that has saved my life more than once. Use it to make a image of your damaged disk on HD [u]then burn an interim substitutive PERSONAL copy of the damaged disk to use only while you wait for M

Hi
If the disk surface isnt to badly damaged
try putting a small bit of electrical tape(about an inch or 2 cm in length) on the top of the disk very very close to the hole
This will make the cdrom bite harder on the cd even out the spin speed.
cheers

Sometimes you can make a copy of the disk to fix it. I did it with an old game which was pretty badly scratched up. Copied it, and it worked fine.

A couple of weeks ago I found that my disk 4 had a large crack in it.
I contacted Amazon (where I bought it eleven months ago) and they sent me a replacement copy of FS9 without question - and free of charge.

Try speaking to where you got it, after all, they sold you a dodgy disk, so let them sort it out.
