ok with the release of fsx tomorow i am curently saying a sad good by to a game that has been great. it has been my real introducton to the fs universe.  Im flying the default aircraft and just rememberig the good old un modified fs2004. but it wont be missed for long i cant stand playing any game of witch there is a better more up to date vershion if unless fsx is so complicated for my pc that it is un playable. but the sun is setting on the century of flight. i know alot of you will stick with fs2004. i envy your resistince to the new shiny edition. but i am weak for i will try to endure the headaches of runing it on my poor over worked pc. for now it looks like the end of this game for me adleast

OK, enjoy. But I wouldn't be able to see the pleasure in driving a Bugatti Veyron with two flat tyres and sugar in the fuel tank, rather than a perfectly-working Mercedes-Benz SLR, other than to be able to say that I have a Bugatti Veyron. Real frustration potential here. Might be worth reading some of the posts in the FSX forum before you make a final decision.

In case anybody's wondering: I haven't got either vehicle (sob) - it's merely symbolic of FSX and FS9. Fact of life is that (as others have said in these fora) I'm not spending vast amounts of hard-earned cash in buying new hardware for a simulator to be able to run it properly, when my current 2gHz/Radeon 9200SE rig runs FS9 well enough.

I've got too much time and effort invested in FS9 to ditch it now, just because there's a new version available. And of coarse there's the fact that "she who must be obeyed" has said my current PC will have to last a while longer yet!

I have both FS2004 and FSX installed on my Hard drive......!

Occasionally, I fire up FSX and weep.... ...!

...then very quickly I fire up FS 2004 and that's where I stay for the rest of the day running flat-out and admiring all the fantastic scenery with a big smile in my face... ...!

P.S. ..I've tried to add some of my favourite FS 2002/FS 2004 aircraft to FSX....
....the older models are not compatible...arse!.......!

Tip: Keep FS 2004 on your Hard Drive until you completly upgrade your computer to be able to run FSX as good as your old FS 2004...)...!

I have both FS9 and FSX...FSX I need time to install...LOL...I'll definately stick to FS9 for a long time though

I'll muddle along for the moment until I get the new computer with DX10 and dear old Vista (whenever it comes out)....

...mm...enjoying the sim for a while longer........mostly cos I got my old rusty C172 to work in there........... couldn't leave her behind................commoner

I am not an easy upgrader. In fact I sticked to FS2002 when FS2004 was new. I guess I will do the same with FS2004 now that FSX is being introduced. I will prefer a stabilized, free of problems software which will offer me what has been offering so far: a great time and gameplay rather than better graphics.

Things are even more complicated if we consider third party addons like squawkbox, FSP etc. Not to mention the money I would need to upgrade my 3Ghz/128MB nvidia system to something more powerful and I don't see what is the added value using a the very good in graphics FSX if I have to reduce my settings to the minimum in order to have it running smoothly.

Frankly there's no point in acquiring FSX until DX10. None of the screenshots I've seen better FS9. The sea is the MOST unrealistic I have ever seen!!!!!!!
The important things like ATC etc haven't changed. So the only "improvement" is graphics!   Most people seem to have to turn those Graphics off in order to get more than one frame a month. Money wasted in my view. I can get 17fps on my 1.2 gig cpu with FX440. Just upgrading a HD and new MB in itself is a nightmare with XP let alone Vista etc. It'll be a good 12 months before i might consider FSX. It's better for me to improve my system as is and have a good smoothly flowing sim.

I'm staying too. FSX is designed to work best with Vista and DX10. Since Vista isn't out yet and no graphics cards are available for DX10 it's a no brainer. I'll wait until there is hardware and software capable of running FSX before I buy it.

As is usually the case, when a new FS comes out it's time for a new rig. I just got one in July so i'm curious how FSX would run on it.
I also agree with Microlight, mostly cause he's got Emma Peel in his profile.
