Thank gawd it doesn't. You can't have a GOOD flight sim on a console. Never ever ever never.

Why?

With keyboard and stick surelly its pretty much the same? Just with an Xbox360 you might actually not have to worry about fps :P

...The flying would be ok but I can't imagine FS without the ability to tweak EVERY file and change EVERY bell and whistle............don't think that would be possible on a console ..or would it?................commoner ;)

I suppose it would work when aimed at the average console games player who just wants to fly around for a while, and then crash into the ground, (which they like doing!), then re-load HALO instead, and do a bit of shooting and killing... ;D...!

It's what Console Players do...trust me...;)...!

Paul... ;D... ;D.... ;D....!

I agree Fozzer. I was showing my friends 8 yr old kid FS9 a few days ago while I was flying the Coral F15. He wanted me to shoot the AI traffic, I said it doesn't. Then he said to crash into a bldg. I said I don't. Then I went to land it, and he was bored. They wanna shoot and kill. Where's the skill in that? Now slowing down from 900 mph and landing with the wheels down, flaps down and speed brake up - THATS SKILL, and more fun to me...long as I dont crash! :P

We all were once younger and shallower. ;)

That 8 yr old one day will find another amusement that's not shooting to everything that moves too (let a quarter of century pass on him too and you'll see :) ), as it's happened before to a lot of people. Even if it's another thing altogether, even if it's painting, croquet, golf or whatever else and not simulated aviation, he will tire of the games he now likes for something else.

It's my belief that simulators like FS, where a shooting doesn't happen, are a field of virtual amusement for people that have gone through and left behind the shoot-shoot-shoot-shoot-shoot-shoot syndrome and try to find a less chaotic past time (even if, from time to time, to dive again in some of the most adrenalin pumping games around is always a pleasure). :)

Some of us never HAD a "shoot-shoot-shoot-shoot-shoot-shoot syndrome" to start with..   THAT is the point.

I dont think flightsim would WORK on a console.  Barely enough computing power.  Seriously, I can run some 'console' games better on my computer than on a console.

Besides, what would FS be if you couldnt download and install 20+ gigabytes of addons and tweak the FS9.cfg until its no longer the same?

Not to mention FS9 comes on 4 CDs and FSX comes on 2 DVDs, so it would never work on a console.  You'd have to change disks halfway accross the atlantic on a transatlantic flight ::)

You'd probably find it harder to shoot down an experienced player in CFS than to land an aircraft. ;)

However, as you say, there's very little skill in shooting down an airliner travelling in a straight line!

Display flying is where it's at. ;D

F/A18 Hornet, anyone?

The poor airliners were my first target after take-off, then i 'd grab a few bombs and made sure the city center was revamped to a hughe pile of rubble...... good ol'days
:)

Something I would not buy, nor use, nor suggest to anyone. :P
