I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out what is causing my problem. I keep getting a crash and reported error message that says terrain .dll. I have deleted the fs9.cfg and let it rebuild, have uninstalled then reinstalled the update, and have run out of ideas as to whats causing it. It happens randomly, at night or day, in places all over the globe, and after 5 minutes, or sometimes many minutes of flying. I only have one mesh in Alaska, but it doesnt matter where I fly, it still happens. Short of reinstalling, are there any other ways to figure out what is causing it? No report comes back from MS when I send it, and dxdiag reports no problems. I will have to quit flying because it is miserable to start a flight and then, boom, its over. Todd
I would start by removing the Alaska mesh and see if that stops
the crashes. I seem to recall having a problem a long time back
with some Alaska mesh and/or scenery...can't remember exactly.
It doesn't seem to matter where you are flying in FS9. Bad scenery
files somehow manage to get loaded and cause problems.
I recently had a spate of "Your computer is out of memory..."
errors. These were occuring in my "FS9_USA" installation of
FS9...I have 4 seperate installs. My "FS9_Europe" install was
working just fine. The only thing I had added recently to the
"USA" environment was a scenery package for the San Francisco
area which only had SUMMER textures. Seems that the lack of
the other seasons caused a memory leak and thus the error.
The errors happened even when I was flying on the east coast.
Disabling that scenery cured the problem.
So, errors can occur from the most illogical sources....
Hope this helps you or others....
